There's a pic of an old style and P38 style sump (I know it's steel, but the bolt pattern is the same). You can see the timing cover part isn't the same.

Being a 3.9, you could have a cracked block, and changing the head gasket won't make any difference to that. Best think is to take the heads off and inspect what's going on.
