Looking in my, 'Haynes book of facts which shouldn't be taken too seriously' I see that the compression pressure for a 10.5:1 should be 175psi. The 9.25:1 should be lower at 135psi and the 8.5:1 should be in between at 155psi. ermm.. I would assume they have the last two in the wrong order s...

I have noticed that the shims under the rocker shaft pedestals are quite thick? Does this look right? Shims are quite thick, but maybe this is because the heads have been skimmed to get the CR back up somewhere reasonable? More importantly, those rockers look like standard alloy ones! I thought you...

It took me a while to work out what 'WOT' meant - ok there now 8-) The dyno was called a Dynapack 4000 http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s61/quattro_album/100_5627.jpg I have lost some of my tools so will have to get a compression tester (RPI did the last compression test) and a timing light. Will ...

Richards peak torque figure of 117lb/ft at 3250RPM still seems a little on the low side. 177lb/ft :) Ok, the wheels and tyres would not make any difference as they were removed before putting it on the Dyno - it is one of those that bolt onto your wheel hubs and suspend the car off the ground. Funn...

Very many thanks to all - and hello again Ron. How's things over there? The last compresssion test done was at RPI and all cylinders were between 155 and 160. The BHP and torque figures are both at the rear whels, not estimated flywheel figures. Here is one of the print outs - the thin line was the ...

I bought the car with the engine already fitted. The previous owner built the engine from new parts - I have all of the invoices. Cam lift is 0.432" AFR? Don't know the difference with the heads - they are listed on an invoice as 1 Pr 14 Bolt Stage 1 heads - from RPI The manifolds are JP 4 into 1 tu...

Simon. Welcome, just to let you know the TVR 4.0 engine is actually a rover 3.9 so not cross bolted mains like the Rover 4.0 and with other differences with the crank rods and pistons. Also the Rover 4.0 had the worst grade of blocks and are prone to problems. as are the 4.6 engines. Kevin. Does th...

P6 4000S

Hi all Just joined the forum. I have just bought a modified P6 with a stage one, 4L crossbolted V8 in it, after some ten years without a V8. It has a few issues which I hope I can resolve now that I have the time to crawl about underneath it. I might just need some help though as I have just found t...
