Re: P38 gems dipstick

Many thanks, without doubt It hasn't secondary air injection, so i Need short dipstick! It shouldn't really matter, as long as you have the correct pair of tube and dipstick. The longer/different one is simply to get around the additional hardware on the engine versus more direct without the hardwa...

Re: PowerLite Starter.

I'd agree under light load - like a hot engine - but with cold oil, would depend on how much the motor has in reserve? Make a good pub quiz question. :D Mathematically, it's an absolute. More teeth = faster, but you are right that a marginal battery and/or a tired motor would struggle because the h...

Re: P38 gems dipstick

I bought my 4.6 gems V8 engine without oil dipstick and tube and i must buy them, as i understood: Engine equipped with secondary air injection Needs LQM100920 -715 mm lenght dipstick coupled to LQN101150 tube; Engine without SAI Needs err4905 - 655mm lenght dipstick coupled to LQN101060 tube. Re: PowerLite Starter.

2 more teeth will spin it a bit faster, but I doubt you'd notice it sitting in the seat.

Re: Thermostat Bypass Pipe

Yes, I do have that pipe. The problem as I understand it is that if you fill the header tank, the water will run down to behind the thermostat, and then fill the block and heater as they have connections from behind the 'stat too. But the 'stat will be closed, so water will not run into the bottom ...

Re: Cooling issues.

Just looked at a load of other diagrams, and I agree, I seem to be completely wrong...god only knows how I ended up getting it so wrong. looks I need one of these, and remove the thermostat from the inlet manifold (but why is there a perfectly machined cut out)......looks like a robotic heart!. Scr...

Re: Thermostat Bypass Pipe

The only downside I have come across with having the 'stat in the bottom hose is because those stats don't appear to have a bleed hole, filling the cooling system is very difficult. Filling the header tank does not fill the radiator at all. I always remove the top hose, and fill both directions unt...

Re: electric water pump

.....i fitted the largest & biggest capacity rad fan that i could find last year, and made sure its snug to the rad.....so its now pulling well.... Is your fan shrouded? It doesn't really matter how snug it is to the rad, it matters that ONLY the air across the rad passes through the fan, not the a...

Re: Difference

Chris, I know it's been a few years since I last used an LT77 but the bellhousing on a 4wd LT77 is considerably longer than that on a 2wd. I stand to be corrected. http://www.v8performanceparts.co.uk/images/Rover/med_gallery_2_361_1338360.jpg http://www.v8performanceparts.co.uk/images/Rover/s-l640....

The GM/Buick 3.9 cast iron V6 engine's front cover is a bolt on with the uprated oil pump.
But which water pump position? Car or Land rover?
