Re: Adding an expansion tank to a RV8

The Classic Minis had a virtually identical tank, but it stood "upright" with the filler cap at almost right angles to that one, maybe worth looking at as an alternative for space issues.

Re: Valve Stem Seals

Because sometimes it can take good effort to unseat the collets, and air pressure often will not allow that. And it is dangerous as with the piston down the bore, if it does drop....it will drop down wayyyy too far to make your day end well. Pretty simple stuff. Put a socket that is a bit smaller t...

Re: Valve Stem Seals

I've used the rope trick and it worked nicely for me.
It must be a soft, pliable rope to be able to fold up on itself as you turn the crankshaft, and I used a power bar that I tied off onto a hard point to prevent it moving as a belt and braces thing.

Re: V8 Engine Build for a P38

And finally is camshaft wear guaranteed for the RV8 at around 130k she has had LPG since 2003 however the Oil changes weren't that frequent, however being that LPG doesn't have the impurities that petrol does, would that make any difference to internal wear/conditions? H Cam wear is almost always t...

What about the tubular P38 ones, they look decent, but they'd be a right bastard to polish, though.

If needs be, you can also get new liners from Westwood Cylinder Liners, they aren't going to break the bank, but machining may dig a hole in your pocket.

Re: Manual required

Depending on what you are wanting to do, a copy of RAVE (the Land Rover CD) for a Range Rover Classic is the most complete documentation I have found. Although the same box was used on the Discovery 2, Range Rover P38, their documentation is much less complete. Clearly you just changed the transmis...

Can you move the radiator? That would be easier than moving the fan I would think. Then you could keep the shroud?, or get a P38 radiator and shroud and fit them to the fan...

Chris.
This would be my choice.
Move the rad or fit the rad and shroud off the original fit for the engine.

On my 3.5, there rear breather is not connected to the inlet system - it just has a filter that is like a fuel filter in it.
What he said.
An inline fuel filter will suffice.

There are thermostat housings available that you can swap out the stat, but they are all aftermarket.

Re: lack of big end oil squirt grooves RV4.6

Hi I'm new to the Forum but not new to rover V8's I'm building a 4.6 and noticed the little groove in the conrod big end to squirt oil in the opposing cylinder bore has been omitted? So I'm going to put grooves in the rods to once again squirt oil up the bore, was this the cause of slipped liners i...
