What is your timing doing?
Could the vacuum advance be picking up the wrong side of the butterfly? Possibly manifold incorrectly drilled.
Are you running brake vacuum boosters are they the source of spurious air?

Re: 3.9 efi problem
The resistor on mine was wrapped in the wiring loom….. a total bugger to find!

Re: 3.9 efi problem
I had a similar thing happen in my GT40. From memory the resistor was used on auto only and stopped the engine stalling when in drive. Not needed in neutral. The only thing I never tried was the road speed sensor, as this not only should stop the dying at idle but would limit top speed, which I cert...

Re: Only fires when over advanced
Is your coil designed to work with the resistor? Some are rated to run on the full 12 volts and others in the resistor system around 8 to9 volts. If you have a 12 volt one in your system you get a much poorer spark.

Re: Rover V8 Engine Numbers Updated:
I Google’s RCT V8 and it went back to Rimmer reconditioning service.
So presumably a call to them may produce some results.
Unravelling that would be RCT = Rimmer, V8 = V8 4600 would be the capacity and then their tracing number.
Off course that could be complete hogwash

Re: Rover 215 camshaft gear issue
John Eales, a noted Rover Specialist who tweaked the engine in my GT40 installed a short braided pipe to add additional oil to the said gears. Discussed here https://classicroverforum.net/index.php?threads/additional-timing-chain-lubrication-required.26062/ So it is a known problem area but normally...

Re: Cooling Advice - RV8 4.6
In the GT40 it has twin 11 inch high capacity fans. They were turned on by a thermostatic switch and two relays as current draw was high. On a hot day like 40 degrees going to Le Mans and stuck in a jam in Rouen, the fans would cycle on and off, but I noticed my temp gauge would climb a bit. So as I...

Re: Cooling Advice - RV8 4.6
Did you have cooling problems with the 3.5?
If so is your radiator up to the job with good clear water passage?
If you have more space between engine and rad, could you fit a deeper/thicker rad?

Re: Cooling Advice - RV8 4.6
My gut says you should only need the 16 inch fan. When doing anything more than 20mph the natural flow of air should work. Below that the engine should not be working too hard/generating loads of heat (unless you are doing rock crawling) Less than that and the engine would be at low rpm so the mecha...

Re: Dellorto quad DRLA45s on Rovercraft manifold
Post it on the GT40s forum.
A few of the cars are running Rover engines and those would top the engine bay rather nicely.
I know I had a car for 15 years (now sold) and had looked out for a set but never had anything come up.

Re: Rover 3.5efi strange tapping knocking noise
Interesting Stevie, without Vaseline we got oil pressure spinning with a drill.
Admittedly I had overfilled the sump slightly.
If I was brave and just started the engine and hit 2000 rpm I guess the same would have happened."………but I never tried that!

Re: Rover 3.5efi strange tapping knocking noise
My answer would be yes and no. I cannot see that Rover would ever do anything other than just start the engine when new and eventually hothead oil pressure will come up. Ticking is often a failed exhaust manifold gasket which is an easy and cheap fix and you may have dodged a bullet. But for a curre...
