Re: Cooling Advice - RV8 4.6

What thermostat are you using? The standard 4.6 had a separate 'cows udder' remote stat in the lower radiator hose. These have a fairly high temperature open set point. The benefit of these is they block off the bypass circuit when open so all your flow goes through the rad. I'm using a variation of...

Re: Rough running 4.6l

Hi, Recently had a rebuilt 4.6l Rover engine fitted to replace a smooth idling and running but tired 3.9l, both fitted with a piper 270 cam. The 4.6 has the non serpentine front cover. I transferred over the distributor and edelbrock 1404 but cannot get the new engine to idle smoothly or cruise wit...

Re: TVR 350i Rebuild

Rover V8's aren't lacking in low down torque - they are lacking in higher RPM power - I would personally choose a cam to wake it up higher up the rev range like 2000-6000 range.

Re: Rocker shaft. Whats the max clearance?

This might be a useful thread, I had some issues a few years back with some cheap rockers being a very loose fit on the shaft.

Took a while to find it as the forum search wasn't picking up older posts!

Re: Rebores on the 4.6L?

My 4.6 had 3x leaky liners so I went the Top hat liner route - something in the order £1000-1200 I forget, it was a while ago. My pistons were fine, when doing the liners the engine shop would have bored them out to whatever size I requested - so I was very tempted by going up in size to 5.0 or 5.2 ...

Re: Rover 14CUX: Alternative injectors, any improvements?

That must be incredible in a car that light, think I've had a skate-board which was heavier! Certainly concentrates the mind! Weighed around 650kg when it was SVA'd. About 200KG lighter than mine and double the power. I'm guessing you avoid wet weather! Now i've got some softer/track biased 255 rea...

Re: Rover 14CUX: Alternative injectors, any improvements?

Wow, just looked at the specs on them, about double the flow rate of standard bur as you say the low speed behaviour is more dependent on atomisation capability than anything else which is mainly what got me asking this question. Wish I had the engine to use them! What sort of output is yours. 4.6 ...

Re: Rover 14CUX: Alternative injectors, any improvements?

As has been mentioned if you change your injector for a 'better' one you really need to be changing the mapping to make the most. I'm using Bosch 'green giant' 0280155968 injectors which 'bolt in' and use better multi hole atomised spray technology, however i'm also using MS2 to fire them. I can sa...

Re: The end of our cars?

Thanks for sharing Richard, I noted the comment below which I suppose may be a 'get out of jail' point for us 'enthusiasts! I also noticed lots of mentions in regards to "automated vehicles" which to me seems like they are trying to put in place law which enables/short cuts the red tape to be able t...

Re: Automatic gearbox oil temperature

Cross contamination due to the transmission cooler in the radiator used to be a problem, and in particular a big problem with Volvos for some reason. I did recovery work for a few transmission repair workshops and towed in lots of cars where it had happened. That's why now I'd always have a separat...

Re: Install Megasquirt on 3.9. Need help

There is a lot of information out there so it can be a bit daunting when you are first starting out with MS. Don't understand what you mean by "set the rotation pulse and after starting"? The manuals are very thorougher - link below: Also I have found the MS extra forums very helpful link below: htt...

Re: E10 and Rover V8

I think its more about the ethanol damaging components in the fuel system. I would just go through each part of your fuel system and evaluate: The Injectors ERR722 from hotwire look like they also fit some P38 engines which may mark them as being ok? Fuel hose I imagine is off the shelf and you shou...

From the .gov website: https://check-vehicle-compatibility-e10-petrol.service.gov.uk/manufacturer/Land%20Rover Land Rover E10 petrol is cleared for use in all Land Rover vehicles with petrol engines starting from model year 1996.Older vehicles should continue to use E5. This looks to me like it coin...
