Out of interest... have you actually tried to start the engine, or only just testing at cranking speed ? Will the engine run ? No, you're right, this is at cranking speed. I haven't tried to start the engine yet as I was aiming to get somewhere near a relatively stable signal before I tried startin...

So sorry for trying to help you. I'll know better in the future. sorry if I caused offence. I was only having a laugh. The trouble is that while the issue is either the signal or the conditioner, there are a myriad of variables that can cause a problem with either the signal or the conditioner. The...

Technically it produces a 12v signal, but I know what you mean. I'm just saying that, as far as MS setup is concerned, it shouldn't be treated like a hall sensor. The manual suggests that if you set the MS up as if it is connected to a hall sensor, it won't work. It also suggests that if you set it ...

It comes down to one of two things. Either the signal from the sensor and its electronics that MS is seeing is faulty in some way, or the MS input isn't conditioning it correctly. LMAO... sorry, but I have already worked out that "it's either something to do with ms, or it's something else". ...

The LS1 sensor is neither a hall nor a vr sensor in their truest form and appears to be described in the manual as a "logic module". It requires a hybrid setting between the hall and vr options. This is fully documented in the manual. It is not correct to set up an LS1 sensor as either a hall or vr....

*Shrugs* the cam signal is considerably better now I have raised the sensor by around 0.5mm - 1mm (haven't measured it). It seems what should and what shouldn't need doing goes out of the window with aftermarket customisations. After all, if I had used the gm ecu I shouldn't need to f*^k around with...

Yes, using stock sensors which is why I hadn't thought of checking the gap before. By "inverted" I mean that the trace is "upside down" when compared to this stock trace: http://www.msextra.com/doc/triggers/LS1_timing_chart.jpg That is to say that the pattern is the same except where the pattern goe...

I may have had a breakthrough... I wondered if there was an alignment issue with the cam sensor, so I tried moving about it a bit and it didn't make much difference, then I wondered about tolerances, so I thought I'd check it and undid the retaining nut a few turns before pulling the sensor up a bit...

Dave, it's a 3.0 board. I have already done what you suggested regarding adjusting those pots. I haven't got a Jimstim. I made the mistake of assuming the ms would be similar to something like an emerald, in that a pre built ecu for a specific engine wouldn't need me pulling it apart and fiddling wi...

This is the same engine as I have, stripped down.

Based on this link http://chevythunder.com/24x_and_58x_reluctors.jpg it looks like the 24x pattern to me.

I'm pretty sure it's 24x. It's from around 2004-2005. The L33 is a fairly rare engine in that gm only put them in certain vehicles for a couple of years before they changed to the gen IV engine. It would be easy enough to see if the engine wasn't in the car, lol. However, from memory I'm pretty sure...

D'oh, I thought I'd said that trivial piece of unnecessary info :) It's an MS3/MS3X from Phil at ExtraEFI. I'm trying to run fully sequential. The engine is a GM Gen III L33 5.3, which should theoretically run as an LS1 as it's basically a 5.3 version of the LS1. It has the black 24x crank sensor an...

Megasquirt help!!
Starting to set up the Megasquirt. All wired in (more or less) but I'm getting a bad sync signal. Trigger wheel set up as LS1 Crank signal looks generally good, but is 100% inverted in the composite logger. Cam signal is all over the place. Obviously the sync is all over the place too. I have tried ...

OT but as it has been raised here... I got oil a-pumpin' Had 5 mins so nipped out, whipped out the plugs, took the oil pressure sensor out again and cranked it over for about 20 seconds... oil everywhere. No idea of the actual pressure yet but I'll wire up the gauge in the morning and have a proper ...
