Re: Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack

DAC1861 diode pack/steering module was only fitted flapper 4CU EFI. Located next to the main relay and fuel pump relay.
From Rimmer
"Specifications and additional product information Range Rover Classic 70-95 - 3.5L Efi 1995 on"

4.2 is hotwire 14CUX and does not have this diode pack.

Re: 4.2 cam specs

There is no mention of lift in any of the OE spec's above. There are many performance aftermarket cams available for the Rover V8 with many different specs - why not just pick one which matches your requirements? edit# seems the OE cams are 1/3 the price of 'performance' cams - so guess that's a rea...

Re: Crossbolted 3.5 build thread - many questions

Just a quick question for you both, given your experience in the area. Just to reiterate, the basic plan is for this to be a carburetted V8 but fitted with a P38A/Disco II distributorless front cover and I would like to use a flywheel mounted OEM toothed wheel and a factory Land Rover position sens...

Re: Crossbolted 3.5 build thread - many questions

I'm still torn between using separate coil-near-plug drivers for the spark plugs (most likely the LS or VAG units) triggered directly by the aftermarket ECU or sticking with using the Ford EDIS system as an intermediary, which was up until recently the default option. I think (though I'm out of my ...

Re: Crossbolted 3.5 build thread - many questions

Megasquirt was my planned route - much like the setup SuperV8 mentions, but interesting to hear that the OEM flywheel triggers might be usable - that's something I'd love to do: keeping it all enclosed. I am using a traditional Milner adaptor plate though - so appreciate that might limit my choice ...

Re: Crossbolted 3.5 build thread - many questions

Parts I'd like to fit: a) a 4.0 P38 crank. This obviously is setup for the larger main journals and has the same 71.12mm stroke as the 3.5L engine. Its nose and keyway are also ready-setup for the P38 distributorless timing cover. b) A P38 distributorless timing cover with Serpentine belt, incorpor...

Re: Rover V8 3.5 main cap girdle?

Whats about these days for 3.5 RV8, main cap support?, I'me using a 3.9 cross bolted engine at the mo' & want to build this 3.5 & have it ready to go. Thanks So using a 3.9 block/bore - you'll fit a short throw crank to bring it down to 3.5? What's your goal with the engine? You already have a cros...

Re: EDIS timing map on stock rover v8 4.6 with 4.2 cam

Load is critical for timing - which this simple list is missing. Your timing advance on your table is not changing with load - only RPM. Is it?? My the 3.5 RV8 fitted to 24v Landrover FC101s does not have a load input - eg vacuum advance and runs fine. The same with my Haflinger - no vacuum advance...

Re: EDIS timing map on stock rover v8 4.6 with 4.2 cam

Super, Stevie. thanks for the suggestion I am in the US about an hr west of Washington DC, older land rovers specially non defenders are uncommon, which is where I come in with my classic. seems I am one of the few in the us running a DIS conversion, the few guys with whom I have spoken at club mee...

Stevie, if I understand correctly this is what it may need 700 rpm 10 deg 1000rpm 15 deg 1400 rpm 20 deg 2k becomes 1800 @ 25 deg 2.4k becomes 2.2 @ 30 deg 3k becomes 2.8 @ 35 deg 3.6k becomes 3.2 @ 37 deg 4.6k becomes 3.6 @ 38 deg 5.6k to 6k max of 39 deg Please correct as needed, also all timing ...

actual 4.6.jpg Stevie, what i posted was a typed copy of the actual chart map this is what I see on the pc when I plug in and load, yes advance rpm and other relevant data is seen as well. load is left rpm is top and full load and or WOT I avoid them due to engine stress I found my timing mark on m...

Re: Clutch plate dowels

Recently had my flywheel cleaned up - they couldnt get the dowels out, so they got planed off. No vibration issues to 3000rpm so far. jp 73 P6B S The force of any rotational imbalance is calculated with the square of the RPM - meaning doubling the RPM will quadruple the out of balance force. So out...

Re: Clutch plate dowels

Apologies if this is a repeat question - I have searched the forum but not seen anything…… Had my flywheel lightened and getting new holes drill for fixing the smaller SD1 clutch plate - do I need the dowels or will the 6 bolts be enough? Thanks Chris Dowels are for precise location of your clutch ...
