Smokey exhausts off throttle. TVR Chimaera V8
Been seeing a lot of smoke in the mirrors at the top end of the drags strip when backing off and braking. I did think it may have been tyre smoke from the drag radials touching the chassis and arches under heavy breaking but a witness says it looks to be coming from the exhaust but only at the top e...

Cars ok just a couple flesh wounds. It was a bit of an eye opener for me. Will look into a full cage next winter. Juries out as to why it went left. Could be the new ET streets (not radials) were touching the inner arches when i came off the power, certainly were under heavy braking. Also a car a co...

Race report
To say the weekend was eventful may be an understatement. I took last week off work (big deal for a contractor!) to finish putting the engine together. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd117/dbv8/Mobile%20Uploads/20150402_162659_zpsjukcnbva.jpg I just managed it in time to fire it up and load the ...

Its a long story so i wont bore you with it. The Pistons went to Chesmans in the end. I sleaned them up and 'softened' the sharp edges. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd117/dbv8/Mobile%20Uploads/20150314_092553_zps42f9kul6.jpg http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd117/dbv8/Mobile%20Uploads/FB_IMG...

Thanks guys, thats cleared up a few thoughts i had. Just to add... this Typhoon cam has ran along with the 4.0 pistons in my engine without issue for 2 years. Its only now after the last head skim i decided to check the clearance. Maybe i was lucky or maybe i just had enough clearance previously. I ...

Do i install rocker pedestal shims in order to achieve zero pre-load from the lifter while off cam? As i do not have any solid lifters to hand i have made up a pair of weak valve springs from wire. These are strong enough to return the valve but hopefully wont push into the hydraulic lifter. Or shou...

How to check piston to valve clearance?

Anyhoo i want to check the piston to valve clearance as i was close before the recent work. So its a top hatted 4.6 and i have a Typhoon cam with hydraulic lifters...

Supercharged Mopar 440 in a SD1
Yes this is happening. The ball is now well and truly rolling to build the tribute SD1 to my best friend Tony Morgan who died last year in his awesome jensen interceptor. It's early days but here is a rough photos hop of where we are heading. The car will be built to perform at the strip but also be...

I have a Maximiser i would like to use this year if i can get round to wiring it in. I also have the real old...
