The end of our cars?
It seems that as part of a drive to update vehicle regulations, the DfT are proposing making it illegal to modify a vehicle (they call it tampering). Quote: "We will create new offences for tampering with a system, part or component of a vehicle intended or adapted to be used on a road." https://www...

Re: Cobra
Thanks for links and passed on.
He found one as a private sale (a RAM) in very good condition for a good price (sort of) but it is red! Then he went back to the much more expensive blue Dax but that has been sold!

Re: Cobra
I'm afraid it's a Cobra or nothing. His dream car for years. Pus he would probably not fit in a GT40.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Gauges
Thought you could still buy the originals at a reasonable price? Been copied?
Originals are mechanical so I sold mine. Yes, you can get UK made Smiths and orhers but a full set is around £800 plus for these and other similar. The cheap ones are circa £200. The problem is I quite li...

Gauges
So I need a set of gauges for my TR6 and note loads of tempting (very) cheap gauges that look on paper attractive. Has anyone any experience of these, presumably made in China / India gauges?

Re: MGB V8 EFI Cooling Problem
Elsewhere on the forum is my epic struggle to sort out my cooling problem that was finally solved a couple of years ago. First I had a blocked rad despite umpteen flushes - gunge in the vertical pipework. Second, I converted the rad to two way. So simple to do and makes it so much more efficient. ba...

Re: Is it the Battery?
Well, the answer to the question is ‘No’. I sent off the battery back to the supplier (Tayna) for testing as they did suspect that there was a problem when all power failed for some fifteen minutes although they were indeed puzzled. Their conclusion “ The battery came back to us at 12.74 volts. This...

Re: Is it the Battery?
I'm sure it's not the starter motor.
Could be the starter button having poor contacts inside but car stored in dry garage.
So far it has worked each time since Saturday!
I'll leave this post alone for now until I find the problem!

Re: Is it the Battery?
Dave, First post when solenoid 'clunk' all power was lost so I suspect I did have lose post clamps. On Saturday I don't recall hearing solenoid 'clunk' and all power was there but starter button did nothing when pressed. Fine after fuses checked, though. Yes, wiring loom all my own work. Yes plenty ...

Re: Car Battery failures
Why don't you use a conditoning charger? Years ago I bought a CTEK one and keep all batteries always on charge over winter when not using the car.
CTEK are expensive but there are penty of alternatives and some highly rated.
