I've only tried attached to the engine so far - that's worth a go. I can get one side fairly near but the other side is 100mm away from the slot. With the exhaust headers bolted on, there is very little wiggle room between the header at the brake fittings. It would be easier to take the headers off...

You don't specify which fuel pump, ECU, injectors? Find the exact model numbers and you should be able to track down the original load specs. Re' pump, this will [should] be operated by a relay so no need for an inline fuse with new wiring. Re' injectors...it's highly probable the ECU pcb will have ...

Richard, I used to chair an annual CIBSE conference at St Peter's College, Oxford. There were a number of highly experienced heritage building professionals who'd attended. One name I remember, though have not met, is Marianne Suhr. You may like to contact her. http://oldhouseconsultancy.co.uk/about...

Dave, have you thought of tapping-in a helicoil for a magnetic drain plug? Have drilled a number of gearboxes and diffs' over the years and it works brilliantly. I've found that the new drain plugs don't have to be huge BL sized jobbies and have used Japanese metric magnetic plugs. Even mod'ed an ol...

That's interesting. In the BL SD1 service schedule, there is no oil change interval given for the manual box or rear axle. Only top up as required. They do list a change for the auto, though, at 24,000 mile intervals. It's an interesting discussion...I'm an old fart when it comes to gearbox and dif...

I used Castrol SMX which is now called Castrol Syntrans Multivehicle 75W-90, it worked well as long as you allowed a couple of miles for the gearbox to warm up. Crockpot, as above, I too use Syntrans 75W90 and it works perfectly. There's a lot of good discussion/experience on the MGB V8 website on ...
