Re: LT 77 Gearbox removal problems
Height will help you to give you room to work. Most people use very small jacks, very small axle stands etc etc....not always safest. Although the LT77 isn't the heaviest compared to some boxes. I've a large high lift long reach jack, so can easily get up about 60-70cm no bother, and 6T axle stands ...

And that is clearly off cylinders, it is not running on all 8 in that video.

Re: Rover v8 mx5 won't rev up
Hi stevie, First of all, I'm obsessed with your capri! How do I see mixtures? I'll get a timing strobe ordered. Please see attached https://youtu.be/NApCtqk9uyU https://youtu.be/LZkmIuxTPjw Many thanks Rowan I don't own a Capri ? As already said, you can check mixtures with a wideband lambda.

You need to know mixtures, no guessing or assumptions.
Timing....with a timing light of course.

Re: Rover v8 mx5 won't rev up
Hi there, Just joined this forum so be gentle. I've got a 3.5 rover v8 in a mazda mx5 with a supercharger on the top pushing 12psi. It's running the tvr tune resistor as it's more rich, exhaust was glowing red before this was changed, very lean It runs lovely up to about 3k rpm then it backfires, l...

Re: EDIS timing map on stock rover v8 4.6 with 4.2 cam
TPS vs RPM is a measure of load.
Not the one I would prefer, but it is still a measure, estimation of load.
I would prefer MAP as already said, but for such an engine, not that big a deal really.

Re: EDIS timing map on stock rover v8 4.6 with 4.2 cam
on a related note, I was looking thru the install cd and maps, found that GM big block map is a good match for rover v8, versus rover v8 map, aside from a high redline of over 7k rpm and max advance of 52 deg at high rpm. quite curios and interesting. Stevie, thanks. let me review your post and vis...

Re: 3.5 SU Lumpy Hot Idle
3 deg sounds really low for timing ? And equally, 4psi sounds quite high for a lot of SU's Whilst I did once own a colourtune, I've never actually used one. And given you would probably only check it in one cylinder.....you never really know what the rest are doing ? For anyone trying to do any tuni...

Re: EDIS timing map on stock rover v8 4.6 with 4.2 cam
still potentially seems a lot I would also set the 2nd column where your idle speed is, so you have another column below it, which you can use to bump idle timing a little to increase torque if idle or rpm falls lower. And no need for WOT at lower rpm's to have as much timing as that. And equally WO...

Re: Pressure testing block
Can you submerge the block in a tank of water ?
Or pressurise it with a smoke machine to highlight any possible leak areas ?

Re: EDIS timing map on stock rover v8 4.6 with 4.2 cam
I have googled to nauseum and never came across your findings, thank you. I will try and remap sometime in the next week if health and time allows. viewtopic.php?t=15725 I wish the table on this post was visible, I cannot see it. from description seems promising. Thanks again. You don't really need...

Re: EDIS timing map on stock rover v8 4.6 with 4.2 cam
Then simply.....what timing did the dizzy have ? and start from there with the table. I would probably prefer a MAP based setup, as at least then you can better account for engine load, which isn't quite the same as throttle openings. And as others have said, 42deg at full load sounds rather high. A...

Re: EDIS timing map on stock rover v8 4.6 with 4.2 cam
I know what the table is And I asked a specific question....what is "your" load ? throttle ? MAP ? other ? Is it calibrated correctly ? And again I ask have you confirmed the timing you expect, is what is seen at the spark plug/cylinder ? Full throttle will not stress the engine. Although incorrect ...

Re: EDIS timing map on stock rover v8 4.6 with 4.2 cam
Firstly...have you confirmed timing you expect, is confirmed at the plug ?
And a table like that with no terms of reference, means little. What to you is your "load" ?
And why would you say it should never see full load ? Of course any engine should at some point.
