What is your timing doing?

Could the vacuum advance be picking up the wrong side of the butterfly? Possibly manifold incorrectly drilled.

Are you running brake vacuum boosters are they the source of spurious air?

Is your coil designed to work with the resistor? Some are rated to run on the full 12 volts and others in the resistor system around 8 to9 volts. If you have a 12 volt one in your system you get a much poorer spark.

I Google’s RCT V8 and it went back to Rimmer reconditioning service.

So presumably a call to them may produce some results.

Unravelling that would be RCT = Rimmer, V8 = V8 4600 would be the capacity and then their tracing number.

If so is your radiator up to the job with good clear water passage?

If you have more space between engine and rad, could you fit a deeper/thicker rad?

My gut says you should only need the 16 inch fan. When doing anything more than 20mph the natural flow of air should work. Below that the engine should not be working too hard/generating loads of heat (unless you are doing rock crawling) Less than that and the engine would be at low rpm so the mecha...

I know I had a car for 15 years (now sold) and had looked out for a set but never had anything come up.

My answer would be yes and no. I cannot see that Rover would ever do anything other than just start the engine when new and eventually hothead oil pressure will come up.
