I was reading through ur site most of the afternoon, very well done, but i wanted a simple and cheap, lol, option, for 700 quid i would be better off buying a complete ambulance or riot van and going that way !

So i'm running the pop with a GM180 3 speed auto in there, i would like to go for a 4 speed auto of some kind, now all the landy/rangie are 4wd the sherpa ones are rare as hens teeth, but a friend of a friend suggested that it may be possible to use the 4 speed box from a vauxhall carlton? anyone el...

Could be the way the exhaust is set up or if theres a crossover pipe in the system, just keep checking the water level in the rad and a beady eye on the temp gage if ur going any distance !! john

I'm sure that RPI have that 0.080" made to suit the standard rover application, the kit they list for the 500, 1486 , doesn't contain that jet, Paul, yep that was the info u sent, i'm hoping with a few mods to the engine i can get away with 0.083" in mine, john

Ah right ! the holleys and webbers are rated diffrently so 390 holley is actually bigger than a 500 webber, i read it somewhere ! pauls jets were as follows " RPI jet kit arrived less than 24 hrs after ordering on the phone. Where did u get the carb from? are u sure it's jetted correctly for ur application? PaulB has a good idea of the set up, john

Thanks, it's all starting to make a bit of sense now !! i think buying a flapper to put on my car has been a bit of a waste, i think saviing up getting a hotwire system and adapting it to megasquirt would be a better all round solution, thanks for all the info, john

Ah, superb, so a flapper injection manifold would be as easy to wire in to a megasquirt as a hotwire one ? any sign of getting the old archive up and running? john

just unbolt the old one and bolt the hotwire on with a new gasket. There are some small alterations you might need to make to the heating circuit depending on which hotwire you have but thats about it. Simple to do and should only take a couple of hours. Are you replacing the loom with the hotwire ...
