Re: Trying to set timing!
Ok guys, sorry for the delay in getting back but the ignition module blew again! that's the second one in three months! So, I've now set the timing at 2 degrees BTDC with the vac disconnect. When I plug the vacuum hose back in, the timing jumps to 18 degrees BTDC, and when I raise the rpm to 4000 th...

Re: Trying to set timing!
Hi Sidecar, Thanks for your advice, So had another look at the timing today, and set the timing to 14 BTDC with the vac disconnected and adjusted the tick over by the idle adjustment screw on the plenum to 700 rpm, the adjustment screw is almost screwed right in albeit a ¼ of a turn. It feels a bit ...

Re: Trying to set timing!
Hi guys thanks for the input, I've checked top dead center and the pointer does match up with the center line on the pulley. What I don't know is what value each of those marks are is it 2,3 or 4 degrees per dash? What I also don't understand is how do you set the timing on the engine? Surely the ti...

Re: Engine problems
The good news about the knocking was the starter motor had become loose. And the Speedo cable had snapped in the Speedo unit.

Trying to set timing!
Hi guys, this is doing my head in! I’m trying to get the engine running somewhere near perfect. The engine is a 3.5 flapper EFI with ported heads and a 3.9 cam with a 4CU ECU. Looking at my bottom pulley clockwise, I have 5 marks which I presume is ATDC then a Larger mark which must be TDC then 5 mo...

Re: Uneven running
Ok guys, I think I found the cause but not the reason? or should that be the other way round? Anyway thought I'd take a wild stab in the dark before the long arduous journey of checking every sensor etc. I disconnect the ECU, reconnected after 5 mins and started it up hey presto everything working g...

Uneven running
Hi guys, finally managed to put 150 miles on the engine, but now its developed a problem I cant seem to solve! Starts up fine, tick over nice and steady but when I raise the revs to over 1500 rpm it starts to stutter. When I rev the engine to around 3000 rpm it seems to almost stall fuel pressure ju...

Crankcase ventilation - None!
You guys are never going to believe this! This probably will have an impact on my previous post - Kangaroo engine. I was getting wisps of smoke / fumes coming out of the crankcase inlet filter on the near side rocker cover. I surmised there must be a blockage somewhere along the way. Disconnected th...

Re: Kangaroo engine

Also changed the AFM with another unit, comparing the two unit side by side there are a couple of things wrong with the old unit, firstly ...

Re: Kangaroo engine
Hi Chris, you were right it’s an air leak multiple leaks! The centre bolt securing the plenum down air is being sucked in there, also the throttle spindle is really bad! Stripped it all down and have ordered new seals and throttle spindle bushes from Rimmer Bros. Anyone know how to replace the bushe...
