Re: Dirt shield
Might be easier/quicker to just make one out of some flat ali sheet?

Re: High Oil Pressure
Normally my RV8 (from TVR Griffiths 500) runs circa 30psi. Water temp runs 85 - 90 and rarely exceeds that as fan brings temp back very quickly. Yesterday as a birthday treat for my son he had an IAM Skills Day at Thruxton. It was hot (obviously) and when on the track he once thought the water temp...

Re: High Oil Pressure
So I had a good look around underneath and could not see the PRV - looking for a circlip and cover. Presumed it was located where it is impossible to get to without taking off whole side panel and exhaust too. Went to Somerset for the 250 mile weekend trip and oil pressure all perfectly good. No is...

Can you not just replace like for like?
Get the part number of the current box and have a look on your favorite auction site?
What is wrong with the box? Has if ever have an oil change?

Re: Hypereuctectic pistons
Hi folks I'm after some 4.0 pistons for a build I'm developing at the moment (P38 2.5" block), that are hypereuctectic. Don't suppose anybody knows where I can find them in a catalogue, someone still willing to cast them, or folks that can make them with indicative prices? Not interested in going f...

Re: 5 litre Wildcat stroker motor advice
For what its worth I would go with the larger journal crank. Everything I read about performance engines is they are using larger diameter bearings - so infect they are spreading the same force over a larger area so would give lower pressure the bearing oil film has to manage. Also a stiffer crank f...

Re: LED question
I'm using LED bulbs for my warning lights - charge and low oil pressure and works fine. Also have a blue one for my main headlights - which reminds me - is too bright at night so needs a resistor to dim it a little. My low pressure is a switch - on or off so easy for an LED. I also have an analog p...

Re: Crankshaft pulleys . . . .
On my "Old style/Pre-GEMS" engine I use a P6 pulley which is quite short. I only drive the alternator and water pump (from same belt) so no secondary pulleys mounted fore/aft of the main one. The mass damper is separate, mounted engine side of the pulley vs the GEMS type which is inline so the mass...

Re: Crankshaft pulleys . . . .
I think the most compact (shortest) front was the later GEMS serpentine pulley/cover/pump - obviously no dizy so you'd need an aftermarket ecu.

Re: Crank driven oil pump priming 3.9l
Well i have tried about 1/2litre of oil throught the pressure switch opening and then fired it up, still no pressure (both light and gauge) any one got any other ideas short of stripping the front cover off. I might try removing the remote and fitting the filter direct to the engine. Seems a lot of...

Re: Cooling Advice - RV8 4.6
My supercharged 4.6 only has a small 12" fan - and no oil cooler - and this works fine for me - though my car only weights 700kg so I just don't get the opportunity to put large amounts of heat into the cooling system at slow speeds. Also its rare to see 30deg days here. Completely different use cas...

Re: Cooling Advice - RV8 4.6
I don't have the cows udder system - just the standard old 3.5 thermostat housing system - I think I have the 82 degree thermostat - I reiterate that the basic cooling system is fine - just wanting to change from the engine driven fan. Cheers Garry Noted. ONLY regarding fans then; the old Viscous f...
