Don't know if it is just a local factors or national but a place called breakways does co2 argon air and pure argon rent free. Rumour has it that euro car parts are about to start doing it as well. Ireland will obviously be a different story but it's getting more common so maybe soon if not already ...

Places like motor factors are doing bottles rent free now. BOC and Air products have been at it for years with their £100 odd rental plus the gas.

If you have any intention on welding alloy then you have to get an AC DC welder. DC is for steel and stainless steel (ferous I guess) and the AC is for aluminium. Unfortunately AC tigs tend to cost a lot more than DC only. Other than that just get what the budget allows for. Be wary of the cheap chi...

These or something like these would do you http://www.v8tuner.co.uk/product.php?id=49 after that you would need to start skimming the head and or block depending on what your goals are. Oh and if you aren't already use tin gaskets instead of composite ones as they give higher compression.

I agree there will be losses but 4-5 HP? That would mean your your using 2.5-3.5 to get 1.5 worth of power. I really doubt that, even a screw supercharger isn't that inefficient and they are fairly poor.

Anyway we better get back on topic before Tony breaks out the big sticks

You might well be right as those figures don't take into account any loses. It's really just a straight conversion from amps to watts then to HP (745.7 watts =1hp) . It won't be much more than that though. Using a really modern alternator would be difficult as they are all ECU controlled now for fue...

Building it out of stainless would be a bit of a nightmare unless your used to working with it. Its hellish tough stuff and a lot of your sections are going to have to be custom folded tapered rectangular section. Will also be heavy but that might not be an issue for you. If you can weld it or get i...

Havent seen you say you have but don't sand the etch primer. It can and usually does cause reactions. Cellulose is a PITA, it reacts at the drop of a hat, cellulose is also a really aggressive solvent as well so as said if you put it on too heavy or too fast it melts your primer coats and the paint ...

They can get all gummed up after time so the first thing I would do is remove it and clean it. Make sure the hole supplying it from the throttle is clear as well.

Depending on size I either use eBay or click metal on the Web. There is also a local supplier but only if I need full sheets.

Get a hold of an air or electric impact gun and try that.
