Hi, Thats good news, it pays to shop around, however you need to be careful. Have just answered your other post and forgot to warn you ....... The mustang T5 251 can be bought brand new for US$ 1700. In the UK change that to pounds. More than that and someone is making a lot of money.and it aint you...

Hi, Like your clutch plate I got my T5 (251) from e-bay as a brand new unit. After checking I have reached the conclusion it is brand new too. It came in a Tremac box ..... means F.A. ..... with the original numbers on it. It is a world class box and with its metal tag, frankly it looks brand new to...

Hi, The rubber mounts I used wouldn`t be a lot of use to you, different car so different measurement to your box cross member. they are wide though at 40mm. The 30mm one uses a 10mm thread, the 15mm only 8mm due to it being so thin. Even fitted like that I had to space my cross member away from the ...

Hi, Ref your speedo cable, I see no reason why your cossie one would not fit as both boxes are basically the same inside, unless the output gearing for the cable is different. I never used a speedo cable on either T5, my system is electronic and "see`s" two 4mm bolt heads tapped into the rear flange...

Hi, You need a point sorting. The 251 box sits level when attached to a bell that fits the rover V8. What happened to that cossie box? Have you gat the service manual for the T5 if not download a copy from www.tremec.com for free. Looking at your cosworth T5 you will find the two holes that allowed ...

Hi, The T5 cossie box 1352-184 and the T5 Mustang box (251) have a few differences. The Cossie front bearing retainer is 118 mm in diameter the Mustang 124 mm so your bell would need altering to suit but the `tang T5 would fit if machined out. The `tang T5 drawing gives a minimum of 124.645 mm a max...

Hi, Having just changed my T5 Cossie box for the T5 (251) mustang box I needed the 10-spline plate. While only using a 3.9 standard engine I only need a standard clutch and size. The number on the plate is CP AP 2346-70 and looks exactly the same, from APC Coventry. While changing to the `tang box I...

Hi Scott, They are different so is the input bearing retainer diameter and the box support where it would secure to your gearbox cross member. I assume your cossie box is 1352 -184 your Ford T5 1352-251 (mustang job). I have just done this job myself. Front bearing retainer Cosworth 184 = 118 mm ......

Sorry to but in here but Al probably got the 8mm size from my earlier post. Devonman: You are probably correct with the 5/16 UNC thread in the Offenhouser, I don`t know. I think the Performer may also be the same, however I tapped my performer to the 8mm thread and locked the s/steel threaded rod in...

Hi Al, The carb can be a bugger to remove, however 4 bolts securing it is not the best way of doing the job. Those bolts need to be replaced with threaded rod then you can use nuts and spring & plain washers. You can then cut the rod to the length required. I used stainless steel (8mm) rod from "Scr...

Al, I also have the 500 & performer. I fitted a home made spacer but the method is still the same. Your bought spacer should do the job but I strongly recommend you use two of the Weber 500 gaskets - one above and one below your spacer. Keep away from any goo muck. My home made spacer has a large sq...

clutch alinement tool.

I am in the middle of changing my gearbox to the T5 (251), the next job is to fit the clutch and centre the 10-spline plate. What I am looking for here is the availability of one of those plastic replica of the `box input shaft to centre the clutch plate, I know they are available in the states by t...

Gentlemen, Thank you for your replies.

Mark, Yes I know its the Chevy or `tang one, exactly what I wanted. As a matter of fact Paul at V8 tuner mailed me after I posted to inform me he had located a plate. He`s now on my christmas list - bless him.

Stevie, Thanks - a good point.

Regards, mike

T5 (251) to RV8

I have a T5 (251) with a 10-spline 1 & 1/16 shaft. The engine is a RV8 3.9 built for normal street use - so its no big deal! I prefer the throw out bearing system from Paul at V8 tuner. It looks like I need a 10-inch clutch just to get the 10-spline plate. Question 1 ... Whats wrong here - there mus...
