Quote from Kiwicar.. " David Vizard did a series of articles for Cars and Car conversions years ago on how to modify the SU and what to do with the manifolds to get them to work when you had done the (more extream) modifications, if you sre interested in tuning the SU I would have a hunt around 'tin...

I have run a Facet Red Top now for years, originally with a pressure regulator, but ditched the regulator when I realised the carb float valve, along with the long fuel hose run from the tank in the boot, handled the pump's output ok without flooding. ps. Just FYI, basically there are two types of p...

An oil stat will keep it where it should be with no intervention and your engine/oil will heat up far quicker to proper working temp. Quite agree. And I bet the thermostat hardly e...

Re: Carb balancing

Hi my carbs are overfueling alot and need balancing. Is this easy to do or dose anyone know a person or company in surrey that could do it? cheers bailey Explain 'overfuelling' ?. Are they flooding with fuel overflowing the bowls?, or is the engine just running rich? If it's the former, check the f...

Hello Bish, My Rover runs with a 4.6 with a P6 sump fitted and a 13 row engine oil cooler too. With 5 litres, mine will be running between low and high on the dip stick..pretty close to high so it is not much to add to bring it up to the high mark. Have you made sure that your P6 dip stick tube is ...

That 500cfm carb is a bit too big for standard 3.5, especially in a heavy car like the SD1. The Holley 390 will be much more suitable. I use one on my 4.6, but even then it took a lot of setting up, taking into account camshaft, head mods etc, even the weight of the car and gearing has an effect. I...

Re: 4.6 head mods

After getting Graham at Motor Tech to do some work to my 4.6 heads. Have in mind fitting 1.63" inlet and 1.4 exhaust valve, opening up the seats and recutting with 3 angles , blending bowls in, smoothing out the ports and matching to manifolds. Anything else I should have done, please keep in mind ...
