Leaky valves

I removed my heads this weekend ready to fit MLS gaskets. The car was running sweet with no problems but while the heads were off i took the opportunity to fill the chambers with petrol. The nearsdide head held fual ok. The offside head was a diffent story. 2 chambers leaked quickly and a third took...

I ported my own inlet manifold to about 43mm first using a plumbers drill bit then a few hours with carbide bits, files, flapper wheels, emery etc Similar withe the trumpet base. Voids were filled with chemical metal. Not the prettiest of work but its worked well for me. I was concerned about fuel g...

Just wanting to check the numbers. I will try my best to measure up as accurately as i can as i am intrigued to know where i am with this engine now. I guess i will be needing to some more rocker shims for the rebuild too. Be nice to fit a set of roller rockers but not in the budget. New MTs and dri...

I kept the chamber at 28cc in the calcs as i have taken the bump out and polished the chambers open slightly. I will figure a way of measuring the chambers when the heads are off soon. Ive ran these non cut out pistons without issue on the comp geaskets but will be checking clearance with a dry buil...

CR assumptions. Check my Maths please

Ive only guessed and still am at my compression ratio. I realize there are many assumptions without proper measurements but i would appreciate comments on my sums. I am soon to be fitting 40 thou Cometic head gaskets and worried i may be heading a little too high CR wise. My engine specifics are as ...

Ive had my Chimaera 450 for 7 years now so have learned a lot about these cars. Some of the later cars (say 97 onwards) had poor powder coating and the chassis was proned to rust particularly on the outriggers where the powder coating was worn away from debris off the wheels. My advice would be to f...

Not far of a 10 either ! :) 0.5 is a perfect reaction time at York so 0.533 was a personal best for me. I was a bit off my best 60 foot 0f 1.70. I was ahead of Russ in a Chevy powered Dutton at the 1/8th but his superior power came past me. I actually let off towards the end hence my terminal being...

real 0-60 (not that Wallace nonsense)

So i was trying to take it easy on Sunday at York as i have recently blown head gaskets and snapped driveshafts. They had the 0-60mph camera set up in the right hand lane. Heres my last run of the day http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd117/dbv8/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-09/20140921_194202_zpscxehwj9a....

The TVR is a mate of mine. Some people may know him as the siliconekid. Has over 340 bhp and has run 12.4

I see what you are saying.... i think. With a manual gearbox its a bit tricky. I am sure my left foot and right thumb work in unison as i stab the clutch and come off the button but like your idea. Maybe i could still have the button as i dont want it operated in 1st, just the rest of the run. Maybe...

My rear end? Ooh matron  That Cerbera has run 1.57 on the same tyres with very similar suspension to myself. I dont think the IRS and TVR chassis will give much better than that really. Still a 1.4 second improvement to 60 foot will be a big improvement for me anyway and will put me very close ...

 I should know better as ive been there, done that. A few times. My 4.6 is top hatted, has ARPs but is running cast pistons. They are the more desireable 4.0s without cutouts but i would feel a lot more confident with a forged set in there. With the aid of MS2 and a few induction upgrades i hav...

I would love to build a proper TVR track slag some day. Put an LS in there with loads of gas and a multi link live axle. But with this car i am sticking to the plan of keeping it it relatively standard, able to drive to and from events with good mpg, do the odd track day etc but be able to push for ...
