startimg problems
The battery is fine and I keep an eye on the charge. I think I may have been taking to much notice of the book settings. I recently 'richened' the tick over mixture by a full turn either side and it started straight off the key. It ran and drove well but didn't like the choke and wasn't as smooth at...

Starting problems
It has an electric fuel pump that runs off ignition feed and you can here it fill the carb before you start to crank the engine.

Starting problems
I have a 3.5 rover engine fitted with a 390 holley carb and electronic ignition. When it has stood for more than a couple of days it refuses to start with out having been turned over for what seems like an age, at least a couple of minutes. It turns, splutters, then continues to spin. It does start ...

Poor starting
Has this problem been resolved yet? I have been having exactly the same problems, have gone down the same routes and after having fitted a new dissy and coil I still cant get it to start when cold. After going through all the basic steps yesterday I did get it to run and thought I had cracked it. To...

fast tickover
:) I may have cracked it. I went back to basics and thought that my problem had to be something that I had done. So what had I done? I had overhauled the carb. using an original holley rebuild kit. This contained a new power valve and all the gaskets needed for the job. At the suggestion of mgbv8 I ...

Fast tickover
The carb came off another Rover eng. The butterflies are totally closed and all vac ports are blocked off. I got info for setting out of a Holley book. I'm not sure what size power valve is in and I cant see why it should effect tickover. I looked at the main jets yesterday and appear to be marked 5...

Holley with excessive tickover speed
:( Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help me. I recently fitted a holley carb to my 3.5 rover v8 in my Scimitar GTE. (its a 390 on a dual plain manifold). I have ran the scimi for 2 year on SU's with no problem and fancied a change. I have completed the fitting but when I started the eng. I can't get ...
