valve spring rate

can anyone tell me what rate standard and double valve springs are?

did some tests on a standard one here and it seemed to be about 180LB or 3.33 kg/mm

280 pound rings a bell for doubles?

surely just the fact that its a finer thread on top makes a big difference to the torque required for a given force??

Head Bolt/stud torque

in the arp head stud torque thread above its mentioned that theres a fair chance of pulling a thread or 2 from the block, do the arp bolts put more force on it? i guess the finer thread will put more force down for a given torque, what torque are the standard bolts rated to? i presume they dont usua...

i havent had a chance to inspect it yet but i assume so, it was rusty as f**k on the back and is water colour inside.

i think alloy ones would be a very good idea.

anyone know why they are there? im guessing its to do with the casting needing extra holes?

Chris, i found that in one of your previous posts, was very useful,

only way i would effect how close the head is to the piston would be to run tin gaskets, however i think its easiest just to skim them more, going to take them down after work.

well i have had a close measure up and compared mine to a diagram i found on here showing how high the heads should be, mine are on average 0.55mm bigger, which i think adds up well to them being tin type with a skim. i think my best option is get them skimmed by say 0.8mm, and run a 1mm comp gasket...

well im trying to get it back to original CR or maybe a little more, so if i was to fit tin gaskets or skim it i would be coming back to close to original preload, if i skim them then they would be original. i am fitting a different cam and probably rhoads lifters if that makes any difference. cheer...

upping compression to comp gasket on 4.6

Bit of a dilema here, had my ported heads skimmed/tested/valves recut, then found they are tin gasket heads so the compression will be to low, 2 obvious choices, either fit 4.0 pistons or skim them down to the right thickness and more as i would like slightly higher compression, i really dont want t...
