Ok guys many thanks for the input Ive got a picture of the rear of the car and will put it as my avtar to show how the original will not work with ot modifying / cutting the rear body As I am currently using a "full plenum" vacuum that could explain some of the wild reading I get! Gav

At the same time as putting in the big wires from the boot stick in an isolator / master switch.

see http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/ look under switches then scroll down to battery master switch

Then when you remove he "key" the effect is an immobiliser and that saves £££ on the insurance!

I think just got 2 different answers Kev says the take off is at full plenum vacuum Badger says slightly upstream of the butterfly (I read this as on the air filter side of the butterfly) Kev's would mean full vacuum at idle and Badger's no vacuum at idle. At small throtle openings I believe both wo...

Where to connect Vacuum Advance?

OK usual story on the GT40 still a bit of a kangaroo at low throttle 30 mph traffic low revs stuff. Tried 2 ECU's and tune resistors and considering the 102 cam I have may never get it good! ---- but it seems to run best in this problem area using a sandard 3.9 ECU and the tune resistor for no lambd...

Ok Duty will work out at 5% based on price of goods plus freight plus insurance (if you do not have an insurance charge they will apply one for you !) VAT is then added at 17.5% (UK) unless you are in some other European state Be aware that is you bring it in and want to claim the VAT back the goods...

Pity he closes it in with the plenum top!

Now fit some trumpets and that would look nice under the GT40 rear glass!

GT40 (Dax Kit) Rover 3.9EFI Hotwire

Hello all

Time to list my toy - the build site is found here
http://www.gt40s.com/forum/builders-for ... ld-up.html

Battling with EFi (or so I thought) but it could be that the cam is a bit too radical (102 cam) for a mainly road car at 1150kg. - Perhaps time for a cam swap.

Cheers

The engine was built by JE Motors in 1990

Full spec (other than I forgot to type Cam Vernier fitted can be seen here

All done with hotwire EFI but no lambdas and really rich when first run.

cheers

Gavin
The one in the 40 came with a dyno readout of just over 250hp at about 5500rpm - done by JE in 1990 - Perhaps the 102 cam is pretty beefy!

I would guess that the water pump seal leaks slightly under pressure and because by then the water is really hot it evaporates and is thus not seen as a drip. A mate at work had the same thing on his 3 year old Ford Focus about a month ago - his all checked out with pressure testing but then the eng...

How radical was your cam? The one I have needs to be tamed or swapped

No No anti tramp and no panhard - pretty similar to original Ford GT40 that did OK winning Le Mans 4 times in the 1960's fully adjustible on rose jounts for caster camber toe etc. (No anti roll bars yet but they will come) My build site is here http://www.gt40s.com/forum/builders-forum/17398-dax-bui...
