I'll echo the stretch bolt paranoia. I put the first head back on with stretch bolts, did the first 90 but couldn't budge the 2'nd 90 :(
So I took them out & put the original bolts back in.
If I have to do it again I'll definately use studs.

Mine blew out on near side. Gave a very loud ssssttt noise on each compression. Engine was originally 3.5 SD1 bored & stroked by J.E. Engineering to 4.5. Composite gasket replaced by composite. Original bolts re-used. Had oil seeping around the join for a few months prior, so maybe suspect tight...

Bin a while so a quick update. Changed the oil for a 5-40 synth with an engine flush before, (2k rpm for 20 mins) & the tick has gone away when warm. Still there a bit when warming up, not on first start when cold.

You'd be better off getting a second hand 4.6 Rover unit as the 3.5 will take a lot of time & money to make it faster than the Cosworth lump.

Thanks for the reply's chaps. The oil pressure is very good. It's only when it returns to idle. If you raise the revs just slightly it goes away, then comes back as it returns to idle for a couple of secs. :?
It's as if one of the followers is loosing & taking a few seconds to fill again.

Brief ticking

I've got this slight 'tick when the engine returns to idle. When its warm if you let it idle, then raise the revs a bit it's fine but as it returns to idle it 'ticks' for a second or two. This is the only circumstance that it ticks :? When I changed the oil to Valvoline 20/50 it got worst so I've pu...

The TVR Wedges have a remote oil filter. If you ask on here I'm sure some of the boys will point you in the right direction & take some pics.

Thanks chaps. Good to hear someone else has had it. These things unscrew do they?
I've got a spare pair of rocker covers off my old 400SE, might swap them over to see.

Crank Case pressure?

Hi Chaps. Got a slight issue with some oil seepage from the filler neck & the vent attachment on the new car. It's a 5 litre TVR Griffith, less than 40k miles, in good nick with good oil pressure etc Couple of pics...; What could be causing this then? & how can I tackle it? Ta in advance. :w...

I've got one of these on my TVR Wedge, it's on 348 on the dial at the mo. Anyone know what the range of these things is ? I've noticed that the car is a lot more responsive & powerfull below 3k rpm during warmup while the mixture is enriched. I just want to boost it a bit more overall to see how...

Sorted :) Had it idling & started wiggling & flicking various wires. Turned out to be a wire attached to the back of the head near side. Must be some sort of earth. The nut was done up tight but the ring connector was loose, packed it out with a couple of washers & problem solved Thanks ...

Thanks for your replies so far chaps, much apreciated. Haven't had time to investigate much over the last week what with work & Xmas. I use the car every day so I've been trying to establish a common 'circumstance' where the miss occurs. It doesn't stutter over bumps when it's warm & the ful...

Stuttering over bumps.

Since I've done the gaskets I've noticed the car seems to momentarily 'die' going over heavyish bumps in the road. It's more than a missfire, if you know what I mean, but it's over as soon as it begins. WTF could cause that then? Also it stutters under full throttle, but only sometimes. Which could ...
