Re: Thermostat Housing 3.5 v8 4x4

Yes, I think I will stick with the bypass if I can. If I remember correctly cooling was always an issue with the 3.5 in Australia. In fact it contributed a lot to the Triumph Stags poor reputation here. I know extensive work has been done by modern aftermarket suppliers and this is know longer the i...

Re: Thermostat Housing 3.5 v8 4x4

Hi Garry, Thanks for that. Difficult to see the orientation as there seems to be even less room than in the County. I’ve seen another type of housing with 2 sensor ports which may also work. Frankly I’m not entirely sure what benefit the bypass to the water pump does! It’s certainly a pain in the A ...

Re: Thermostat Housing 3.5 v8 4x4

Hi Garry, Well the simple answer is ‘l’m damned if I know’. I was raised in country Australia in the early 1960s and saw lots of Series 2 and mostly Series 3. For some insane reason I gravitated to them over the Toyota Landcruiser. I’ve had a diesel 109 cab truck, and a ex military 2.6 petrol. When ...

Re: Thermostat Housing 3.5 v8 4x4

Garry,

Thanks, Just sent them an email. I like the idea of trying casting, but then I would still need a housing of mould off …. Interesting idea though! I could be the thermostat housing supplier to the world! Suddenly that $245 sounds quite reasonable! Regards Dan

Re: Thermostat Housing 3.5 v8 4x4

Hi Ian,

For some reason I can’t open any Rimmer Bros web links! Don’t know if it has something to do with their post merger with Moss Motors or if being in Australia is an issue. I don’t have any difficulties with any other sites……. Still searching for a thermostat housing - such fun!. regards Dan

Re: Thermostat Housing 3.5 v8 4x4

Hi Guys, Yes I’m in Brisbane…… Part of my problem looking for replacement parts….! Ian thanks for the offer of the thermostat housing. It’s very close, but doesn’t have the bypass port to the water pump. I’m starting to wonder if I can add a bolt on pipe to hose fitting on the intake manifold, like ...

Thermostat Housing 3.5 v8 4x4

I’m doing up a 1986 County 110 and it’s Rover 3.5 v8 engine. I’ve swapped the Strombergs for an Edelbrock 500 cfm carbie and the Edelbrock intake manifold. I’m having difficulty trying to find a thermostat housing with its bypass pipe and right hand side orientation towards the passenger side (RHD c...

Newbie

Hi All, I’m new to the forum. I’m doing up a 1986 County 110 and it’s Rover 3.5 v8 engine. In the past I have had a Series 3 diesel wagon and a Series 3 109 ex military 2.6 pickup. Hoping the Rover v8 will have more poke! I’ve swapped the Strombergs for an Edelbrock 500 cfm carbie and the Edelbrock ...
