Thanks for the reply and kind offer GDCobra
After talking to a few others I'm planning to fabricate a blanking plate and clamp which I hope will be enough to stop any fluid leaking out.
I might be back to you if this fails

Apologies in advance if this is a repeat, I've searched the forum and not found a similar query (but that could just be me :-) ) I've not got a speedo drive in my gearbox (and am using an electronic pick up off the prop shaft anyway) and wondered what others had done to block it off. I can see two o...
Hi all and a Happy New Year! My 2768902 Mallory distributor has a non functional vacuum advance unit. I believe these are as rare as hen's teeth but if anyone knows either:- a) where to get a replacement (p/n 29332) or b) if there is something similar out there that can be modified to fit? Thanks Ch...
Apologies if I've missed an answer to this in the forum but...... I'm looking to replace the rear gearbox rubber mounts with polyurethane ones but I can't find any. I can find polyurethane replacements for the gearbox remote bushes and also the bush for the central bolt in the rear mounting bracket ...
Apologies if this is a repeat question - I have searched the forum but not seen anything……
Had my flywheel lightened and getting new holes drill for fixing the smaller SD1 clutch plate - do I need the dowels or will the 6 bolts be enough?
Thanks
Chris
Thanks Chris, I get 2 and 3 but I only half get 1 :-) So to help me get my head around it - where does the vacuum for the dizzy advance get taken from if it’s not 1 and are you saying there is water circulating round the inlet manifold that high up? Chris PS I guess the fact that 2 exists means the ...
Sorry to hijack the thread but I have a similar problem.... My engine came with no interconnecting pipes on the engine and no carbs. I now have an twin SU inlet manifold and need some help identifying the ports... 1) there is a small tube from the top of the carb mounts which I presume is the vacuum...
Thanks, I’ve read that when you rebuild the rocker shaft you can reposition it so most of the thrust is on the unmarked side of the shaft but I guess the wear would still affect the oil pressure etc. Anyway I’ll bite the bullet and fit new shaft and rocker arms…..
Chris
I know there is loads of stuff here and on other sites about rocker arms and shafts but could someone just confirm that this shaft is too far gone for me to simply relace the arms please? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52478422947_6c940a8e47_k.jpg 2022-11-05 15.24.04 by Chris Marsland , on Flic...
I'm pretty sure this is for the scrap bin but just in case I'm being overly cautious what are your thoughts on this oil pump. I don't know the history of this engine but I'm amazed the cam and crank aren't shot if the oil pump is like this!! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52479198629_a2ac40e444...
Thanks Chris, confirms what I thought/suspected - I'll probably stick with the washer approach as I'm not up for replacing all the valve guides......
Unless of course anyone out there has another solution!
