Re: Engine Overheating
Hi yeah I don't think I read the dwell correctly. I was trying to tune the carb per the Holley instructions but even though I can alter / improve the vacuum readings I can not get the revs down as the curb idle screw is bottomed out ie; turned all the way out. I was wondering whether the idle mixtur...

Re: Engine Overheating
Hi, just a bit of an update and still looking for advice ( which this novice really appreciates). Today I hooked up a vacuum gauge to see what vacuum it was reading. Initially, it was set at 14 degrees advance with 16 Hg of vacuum with a dwell of 39 degrees ( at this point the gauge indicates late i...

Re: Wrap or not to wrap
My headers are very close to the inside wheel well and are ‘browning’ the paint work. They have been ceramic coated but are trying to think of ideas to soften the effect on the engine bay.

Hi all,
Interested in knowing people’s opinions on whether to bandage wrap headers or not?
Merry Christmas

Engine Overheating
Hi all, I have just rebuilt a Rover 3.5 (everything standard) and have fitted a QFT (Holley) 450 cfm into a 1979 MGB. Holley recommend using 6.5 psi pump on these. At the moment it is running at around 6 degrees advance, 1200 rpm and all the vacuum hoses are blocked. Initially, the headers were gett...

V8 Plumbing
Hi all, I am attempting to run-in a Rover 3.5 on a test stand which I have fitted a Edelbrock manifold and new Carb but as I am reasonably inexperienced would like some clarification on the 'plumbing up' of the engine so I can run her. Some of the connections are obvious but others I am not so sure ...

Re: Clutch / Flywheel Shim Rover 3.5
Thanks Chris,
Yes - I have a new bush. Do you know if you could test the engine with the clutch attached but not gearbox? or would the plate cause too many issues?
Thanks
Peter

Clutch / Flywheel Shim Rover 3.5
Hi all, I hope this is the correct area. Presently trying to attach my clutch to the fly wheel but have a question about the 2 shims/spacers that came off the auto. It's a Rover 3.5 SD1 that I'm converting to a manual. The question is do I actually need these shims/spacers for the manual box? They a...

Harmonic Balance O-Ring
Hi all, I have a Rover 3.5 where I have removed the harmonic balance to replace the front pulley - Unfortunately, I can't remember if the O-Ring (see picture) is part of the harmonic balance??? It is NOT on the Rimmer Bros. web-site https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID800015 but I just wanted to make...
