Are you using the rover pin and bushing the rod to size? if so i would think it would be difficult to have the pin as press fit.

Nice of you to drop in and provide your usual technical expertise, hows the new 4.3? Rover project with the Mickey Thompson heads coming along?

Strangely I ended up with a 22lb flywheel on my 4.35 Rover and it does rev quite freely and is very easy to pull away.

A further thought. if you have the original SU set up they will flow enough mixture to fuel a 200+ BHP engine so you will get no real advantage by swapping to a 4 barrel and fuel economy will probably be better with the SU's

Scoring and wear on the base plate increases the tolerances in the pump and reduces efficiency.

Is the remote filter plate reasonably new? in which case it should be ok but scoring would be easily visible.
