I may be missing something here, but that clearance seems tight to me and it would get even tighter when the engine is hot wouldnt it?
I have a 248 cam and the clearance .022" hot. I set them at .025" cold.

The larger the bore relative to the stroke, the higher the potential power output of the engine due to the increased potential for higher revving. The Rover 3.9 is about as good as it gets on the Rover in terms of a short stroke and big bore. I wouldn't bother trying to shorten the stroke, as what ...

US compatable parts!
There are many obstacles to getting hi revs out of the Rover but one of the main ones is the size of the valves that you can use. The rover also dosen't like revving a big stroke either. An edelbrock inlet will curtail any attemps to rev the nuts off it too. The easiest way to build a revvy rover: ...

Got my quotes mixed up there!!makes sense to me!
Got roller rockers HD springs and billet flywheel already, although taking some weight off it could well be beneficial.

US compatable parts!
Ok cheers guys, I understand the need for cross bolting and or/a girdle plate at high RPM. Where would I get custom shells from Kevin? Are domed pistons an option or not, and what about stronger/alternative cranks or would they only be made from unobtanium? I wouldnt really want much more CCs Rich, ...

US compatable parts!
Hi all, I know this topic has been discussed before, but Im seriously considering a winter project based around a 3900 spare short engine using chevy or ford parts. A lot of you guys have experience of this and it has got me thinking  The car is lightweight and I think I could sacrifice some ...

oil warning light
Hi all, Its been a while since my last post but I could do with some advice if possible. I am sure most of you will give the same answer to this but it has got me scratching my head! My sump is well baffled (so i thought) but using my car on a circuit the past two times the oil pressure has dropped ...

TC Sorry to tell you this but from my experience the crane double springs will not fit straight on. The inner spring fouls on the support around the valve guide causing coil bind on the inner spring. When it binds you bend a few pushrods. I had to have the guide support machined away and that...

There's a place called Bell Hill Garage near Bath, they break quite a few TVRs and advertise a lot of spares. Obviously these would be used and I dont know if this would be of use to you, but they might be worth a call.

MSD Dizzy advance curve?
Just got one of these dizzys with mechanical advance for the rover/buick V8. For arguments sake a rover 3.9 should have about 35 degrees advance at 3500rpm. If you look at the attached instructions showing different advance springs and bushes and the available advance you can achieve with them none ...

Plug leads & cross arcing
Maybe this has been raised before, but Ive seen loads of pictures of V8 engines (often competition or modified) with the plug leads cable tied in pairs. ie; touching each other. Im well aware that according to many people there can be a problem with cross arcing, hence plug wire separators. i'm curi...
