I still cant shift the stuck Step up piston.
Its been soaking in WD40 all night but still no movement.
Tried tapping the rod but that wont budge it.

There are a few companies in the US who make copies or these carbs to proper tolerances and out of decent materials, using better production methods, you could just bin it and buy such a carb, he would thank you for it in the long run! Just been playing with it again and one of the Step Up pistons is jammed solid. The other needed a nudge to move it, but the other is solid.

I might suggest he get the beast Ultrasonically cleaned, that should sort it out.

Does anyone have a diagram etc of the tube and relevant pipe in and outs of the EDELBROCK 1404.

Yep mine is about 4 inches, certainly not more.
I used to zoom around in my 2.9 an estate to collect my daughter witch had those centralised speed bumps.
Not any more !!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Ive got a spare sump so maybe I'll chop the bottom off and weld a decent steel plate on

Sump shortening

With my V8 now installed I'm alarmed at how low the sump is.
How much could I safely take off of it, and would I need to shorten the oil pick-up?

Just feed them over the side, or into a filter or back into the carb??
