Look at this diagram of the cam wheel, the long slots are different and I am wondering if this is how they do it. Sadly my cam wheel does not have these slots which is strange as the cam wheel is the original. I only changed the cam and the timing cover. http://www.westfieldbuild.com/images/timingch...

Hear what you saying steve, i.e. need to know the camshaft angle in order to establish if on the induct or exhaust stroke. But I cannot help wondering how the RV8 solution determines this, unless it takes a 50-50 chance but then they would be no need for the sensor then I guess! Cam gear is ferrous ...

Mmmm could ya make it any bigger ? lol I'm assuming the trigger is the cam wheel itself ? Although not sure how it decodes a signal from that ? One metal section is smaller though. I guess that could be sufficient somehow. I did it big to see the cogs. Re-sized it now. http://www.westfieldbuild.com...

Surely if there is a boss already there for a sensor, then there is a tooth of some description on either the camshaft, or cam gear that you can use ? or adapt in some way ? Well the block is a GEMs X-bolted block. The timing cover is a intermediate cover off a 3.9EFI I dig out a picture of the fro...

RV8 Camshaft sensor
I have upgraded my ECU from MS2 to MS3. One of the follow on little projects is to go full sequential injection. For this I need a camshaft position sensor. Now I have the Intermediate timing cover with the cam sensor boss casted in which will require drilling out. Obviously I do not have dizzy but ...

Moroso Oil Accumulator
Long time since I posted. Ok, I have acquired one of the above. It is not new, looks very good no dings or anything but as a matter of caution I should clean/flush. The one I have is quite large, 3quarts? It has big Circlips on each end. Anyone took apart and cleaned. I am half expecting a jack-in-t...

Rover P38 canister type thermostat housing assembly
Part number is PEM101130. I was thinking out using this in my cooling system to provide a radiator by-pass when car is warming up. Had a look at one today and see that the thermostat cannot be changed as it is bonded into the plastic housing. Question is, what temperature does the thermostat open?

RV8 4.6 safe rev limit
I have a rolling road tuning session booked this week. I have used this tuner before and they are reputable. I am going back after upgrading my megasquirt from MS1 to MS2 with better resolution maps. Improved induction, etc. etc. For my first visit the engine was brand new so I set the rev limit to ...

Starting up engine after a rest
My Westy has been in the garage over winter. Next week I plan to start her up. Engine has not been turned for 5 months. Apart from when I started the engine up first time ever this is longest time it has been standing. Its a Rover V8 4.6 injection with the crank driven oil pump. All I was going to d...

Like I say I am using the ACT CF plenum chamber and I make good power and torque and power delivery is very good. Curves look good and I can drive around at 25mph in 5th through town no problem. The customer supplied lower manifold is only required for Westfields and the like so that adequate under ...

My 285 duration cam gives 12.11mm lift. Steve, Firstly get the Megasquirt, this gets rid of the air flow meter which cannot cope with the exhaust gas reversion which is a factor of using a big cam with large overlap. Once set up properly it should run a lot better however with a plenum EFI system yo...
