Thanks for all your help!

Do you mind my asking how much it cost to have these special bolts made up? I've asked Basil's Bolts and was told that it would be "mega money" to have some made :( Still, I don't want to skimp and have the block drop to the floor!

Thanks again

Thanks for the replies! So it really is just a matter of (grade 8?) bolts through the holes in the stands 4 "arms" to the bellhousing connections? I wasn't sure if some bits (extensions to the arms say) were missing or if 4 bolts would be up to the job of supporting the weight... and didn'...

Engine stand help

Hi, I'm a bit embarrassed asking this but how do I connect my 71 Ford 302 block (from a Torino) to the engine stand I have bought? The engine stand has the four connectors but I don't know how to bolt it on or what bolts I need. Any help would be much appreciated as I'm keen to get building! Thanks,...

It begins! I have bought a 302 block, code D1OE 6015 AA, which means it's a 1971 (same year as the Cortina :D) from a Torino. It's bben bored out to 30 thou and there's a reground and balanced crank too. Also picked up some Eagle I-beam conrods, KB flat top pistons, Comp Cams Xtreme Energy XE262H ca...

Well I'm picking up the block and bits on Saturday and I'm now excited! A little worried about driving the Cortie from Bristol to Harrow and back again in one day but it should be fine :? The block is either a '72 or a '74 (tbc) and bored to 30 thou. I'm hoping it's a '72 as my car was first registe...

customs charge you Vat at the usual rate on everything including post and packing and between 3 and 5% duty (or somtimes no duty at all!) on six deliveries the only consistant bit is the VAT. Roller lifters are standard parts on 5.0 blocks but are ford standard parts, designed for moderate lift cam...

I'm glad that the damage isn't as bad as first feared!

I'm waiting to hear back from someone but, as far as I know, I'm getting a 302 (not 5.0) block, which has been stripped and cleaned. I don't know what year or block number (if there is one) it is yet. It also comes with a reground crank, which I guess will become redundant (worth anything on ebay!?!...

Hi Phill I am building a chevy 383 at the minute, the reason is that it is the cheepest horsepower going, the stroaker cranks out of the US are virtually the same price as standard (in my case exactly the same price) and a good cast crank is a the same price as my new cam! For what you sound as if ...

Do stroker kits shorten the lifespan of an engine??? Thats a big question, I think anybody who contemplates fitting a stroker has the intention of leaning on it hard, TBH if you have the power, in most cases, you use the power, so the engine works harder, I supose things like excess rod angularity ...

Me again, If you want a Torque monster, either get a stroker kit in a 302, or get a 351W and fit a stroker kit in this, plus a sniff if gas for a bit of drag racing a 408 SBF running 11s should not be a problem Hi! I didn't ignore the kind advice you gave but I've already committed myself to buying...

302 into a Mk3 Cortina

Hi all, I've been a member of this forum for a while but haven't made any posts yet so please allow me to introduce myself. I'm Phil and I have a 1971 Ford Cortina XL (the single headlamp Mk3 with NO vinyl roof!). My plan is to completely strip the car and rebuild it with uprated brakes, suspension,...
