Difficult when the pictures are not pin sharp but the fracture looks like a classic fatigue failure, nice matte surface except the centre which will be slightly rougher. Starter for the crack would be a manufacturing defect in the base of the groove behind the speedodrive gear location. As Ian says ...

I suggest you contact these two companies.

Ashcroft Transmissions, Dunstable - a 4x4 specialist but they might help out.

Competition Transmissions, Markyate

I've no connection other than getting good advice and/or service from them.

It is not just the head you need to worry about but also the effect of the fuel on the epoxy. I did a similar fill in of port roofs with a steel loaded epoxy in an iron head and the only reason the filler stayed in was because we installed some tiny angled dowels first, the epoxy shrank because of t...

I've got a torsen type diff in my MGB and like it.

Off topic and definitely my opinion but anyone who says an LSD is dangerous is st***d - its not the mechanicals that are dangerous but the way they are used.

Dave is possibly not back in the country yet and away from email while in the states.

My brother would be interested to bring his little rover if there is room.

Assuming you have not got an electric gauge but the original MGB or MGB V8 type the bulb and gauge are a single sealed system and you have to change it as a single unit. Only practical check if the engine being too hot to touch while the gauge says cold is to extract the bulb and put it in a boiling...

Thanks for that. I'm trying not to get my BB's crossed while reading Donington news on a motorsport site, thought I must have missed something in an earlier post.

Perry, I'm up for that date, taking a risk though as Dave Tetlow's motor is built on a short engine I sold him - be nice to see how it goes compared to my 3.9. Dave Oops, did I miss something ? P6 pump is same pattern as MGB GT V8, but probably without a premium price  Later 90's MGR V8 have later Range Rover pattern. I've had a leak that showed as water coming from drain hole, it cleared up before I got round to changing it !! eventually changed the pump because of corrosion on one...

Kevin, With RV8 headers you'll be fine, if you had an original BV8 system it goes between the crossmember and the deep section of the sump through a gap the Range Rover sump fills. It will depend on your car usage but I would leave the SD1 windage plate out if you have it since the Range Rover sump ...

Water pump fits to the front cover so that is the important item to match the pump to - presumably you have a 1990 or earlier cover rather than one of the later versions with the concentre oil pump. If the pump is like the one on Katanaman's sig then I think it is a P6 or SD1 version - both have the...
