I looked at this....but that chassis member got in the way of the right hand holes, and the left hand ones were too close to the water pump. The tensioner bracket dropped the pulley clear of all the obstacles (more luck than judgement). The water pump has around 50% contact, no idea id this will be ...

Remember if you are putting a tensioner into the system, it should be on the left side of the engine (looking from the front). This means it should be after the crank pulley and not before. Otherwise the crank pulley force will tend to loosen the belt under load. That's a very good point.....I'll p...

You could try ramair on ebay they have a massive selection of sizes and sell blank back plates. My previous project required an air filter in a very restricted area, and I used a ramair. It had a foam outer and mesh inner that could be 'manipulated' to get around problem chassis areas. They are fant...

Head Gaskets...which one?.
When I picked up my big kit of parts I was given two sets of head gaskets. Engine is fairly standard 4.0ltr, piper 270 cam, 9.35 CR.
Which one of these would you use?. Thickness seem the same on both types.

More general questions....Gaskets, breathers, other stuff
Now the engine build has started, I've built up the oil pump in the timing cover (using pleanty of vasolene and engine lube), oil pressure relief valves in place....but...have some questions. Crank pulley - The crank pulley clearly holds the timing chain sprocket and oil pump drive (crankshaft drive...

Bit of an update...... Whilst searching through some of the boxes that came with the kit I found 'the tube'...so that puts that one to bed. Also, I trial fitted the engine and gearbox on the weekend, the good news is that there is enough room under the timing cover to get the remote oil filter take ...
