A dremmel will do it but take a while, use a high speed steel cutter or a carbide one, little risk of accidently taking too much off with a dremmel though :), otherwise use emery cloth and hand tools. there are various books on DIY head porting from the likes of David Vizard, they give good general ...

Hi v8viva If you are going to have to go to the effort of building a set up to adapt a non standard master cylinder into the Viva it may be of little more effort to use a dual master cylinder pedle box for a seven replica, or similar(robin hook, MK, sports, SSC, etc) this would give you the ability ...

Hi for basic mods I would stick with SU's if you have them, clean up casting marks and blend any sharp edges in the heads (if you have P6 heads chuck em out and go for sd1 or later heads) open out the valve throat area by a couple of mm with a cutter using the guide as a center, don't remove materia...

Hi
have the floats sprung a leak and filled with fuel? used to be a common fault on the 1 1/4s on my old mini.

Hi ally sump would be a custom job. For 30% you would probably need an oil cooler. The figures I quoted are general for a water cooled engine. Maybe a bit more for an ally engine block bit less on an iron big block engine. If you look at a suzuki gsx bike engine of the '90s the oil did 85% of the co...

Hi Dave I heard roughly the same as Kev, engine with a cooler about 1/3 of the cooling system's capacity, add an ally sump with fins adds about 5%, drilling holes in the main oil gallery to direct jets of oil to cool the underside of the pistons, on a super/turbo charged engine adds another 5%-7%, p...

Isn't the 9" a bit OTT for only 400 break in an MGB, this is a seriously big and heavy piece of kit, alot of unsprung mass. Even in standard form let alone with aftermarket shafts they are for serious power. I think they are not a very efecient design, they will turn alot of your 400bhp into heat. B...

yes Ian they do make them (I will have another go at finding the site) they generally involve some horible routing around both ends of the sump and over the bell housing (and must make the bulkhead hot) but they make them, and yes they look a bit long. The mid engined set up does lend itself very we...

There was an article on making your own headers in Carcraft a couple of years ago, explaine how to measure up and get them to fit, might be worth a look on Carcraft.com. You can also buy kits of bits to build headers for specific engine/car combos from the US. I would think that if you can get acces...

Hi Sounds like two 4cylinder engines perfectly syncronised (strangly). As these exhausts are usually used on quilt highly tuned V8's (not worth the effort for a stock engine) and they are generally used with individual carbs or throttle bodies they sound lovely  they are often used with a c...

Hi Gavin
"I once offered up some tvr manifolds to my car and where they join into one came out infront of my radiator! Very long!"

Chrome them and stick a turbo on the end of each it would certainly be a talking point!!!

I have just bought a bottom end kit off Ebay for my new engine, cost $1450 plus postage, I'll get the paper work when it arrives and post the charges and costs.

Hi I think the fixation with the R380 box is from the Range Rover boys, it is a common upgrade for a manual lt77 to the Satana version of the R380 box which is meant to have much stronger internals, however it has a tail housing for the 4x4 transfer box on the end of it. From what I remember this bo...
