There are a few posts on this site touching on this subject at the moment. :whs , a basic clean up is well worth it and a mild port to manifold match (may be not as far as a full gasket match and dont go too far into the port), and opening up the valve seat throat is well worth doing, don't "polish"...

most race authorities insist on seamless tubing for roll cages, square section is rarley seamless. interesting that they don't always insist the chassis is seamless! :roll: It always looks better if the roll cage is in round section.

I am pretty sure Mr vizards first published book was on the porting of small block chevy heads. before he started on minis :) But the mini work is why so many of the heads he designed for the SBC have chembers the same shape as the 12g940 castings :? (oh and thst it is a good chamber shape :shock: )...

I know it's an obvious one but is the fanbelt the right tension/ old and knackered/got oil/salt water on it? would be worth a check before you change the alternator.

Hi I dont know if anyone is still interestedbut Bottom end Kit $1450 postage $480 ooch that hurt :cry: import duty and Vat £259 still for what I got a total of about £1230 is not bad forged 383 crank, forged H-beam rods and Marhl forged flat top pistons, all ballanced and a full set of bearings. just been reading up and the cerbera engine is a 75deg bank angle as well, I think for a flat plane crank to work beyond a brief few runs then shaking itself to bits, you really need ballancers. it will only need a tandem/twin master cylinder and split system if it came from the factory with one, they came in mid 70's, a Viva probably pre dates the ruling.
