Right update: I pulled apart the breather hose and found a plug of black plastic-ee-gunk (looks and feels like instant gasket) at the top of the t-piece, so you were both spot on! Perry; thanks for such a detailed post; how detailed was the one you lost! I've tinkered this morning and tried to imple...

http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m327/theoriginaltwig/9A39A200-FDD5-4DA8-AB33-541A00E0B8AD.jpg That is a breather pipe, and on the standard set up which used it (P5B/P6B) it would run from there, through a (petrol) filter, and into the airfilter housing. Thanks Harvey. Is it normal for it to be s...

Flame traps ( ore more to the point, oil/air separators ) would be wise. If that pipe you photo is a breather you could either direct it to the air filter area too, via suitable oil/air separator...or if it's only 8mm, just plug it up and let teh rocker covers do the breathing Stevie, Thanks. I'm g...

Thanks: Although what you've said is mostly black-magic to me! I'm going to get it rolling road tuned at some point and get someone to look at the distributor and Holley again. Although quite frankly at the moment it runs ok(ish) doesn't drink too much fuel or leak too much so I'm happy. It's pointl...

Is this a Crankcase Breather? Why Is it Leaking? Catch Tank?
Hey Guys, Go easy on me as I'm a total engine biff so please keep any responses simple and technical free! I have a P6 engine in my Stag running a Holley 390, 360 low profile manifold, electronic pump and low profile filter. The non-P6 rocker covers vent via silicone hoses into the base of the filte...

Guys, sorry for the delay in updating this thread- really busy with work. They are definitely P6 head (double springs the right size etc). I fitted the short plugs and the engine does seem better at high revs, although the old plugs were horrible and pinked so the difference could simply be new plug...

Chris; yep the Holley originally was the problem. I fitted a new float and accelerator arm then had it tuned by the local Hot Rod Speedshop is specialise in everything old skool Amerciana engine-wise.... About a 1000 times better. However there is still a little bit of what could be described as &qu...
