Oil Filter Relocation Block.

Hi Guys, Can anyone give me a spot of advice please? I am fitting a 3.5 Rover V8 into a Series Land Rover and need to relocate the oil filter as with the standard fit the filter can hit the framework on early landies. My two options look to be fit a remote filter, or find a block that fits the oil f...

Update - Not what I expected either. I removed the bolt and found no thread swarf or debris there at all. Checked the head thread and clean as a whistle, no damage evident. Cleaned the thread out and carefully tried another pedestal bolt by hand, which went in fine. Checked the original bolt then by...

Brilliant!!! Thanks for the posts guys - much appreciated, and it's very comforting to hear from someone who has successfully sorted out the same problem. The bolt details I found from the part number had led me off the track with UNF, explains why I couldn't find anything. Kit ordered, very happy!

Rover 3.5 V8 - Rocker Shaft Pedestal Bolt - Thread Repair.

Hi On the rebuild one of the rocker shaft pedestal bolts failed to torque - all others went in fine but one isn't feeling good. Gutted. Checked out the wrench, clean threads, pedestal seated OK, everything I can think of - bolt left 'as is' whilst I go and figure this out. I might be facing a thread...

V8 Twin SU Intake Manifold - Two Temperature Sensors?

Hi Apologies for a potentially bonehead question…. I am preparing a Rover P6 V8 intake manifold with twin SUs and whilst stripping it I have noticed that there are two coolant sensors fitted; First one that screws in to the side of the thermostat housing by cylinder 2, in the book designated 'Coolan...

Hi My conversion kit came from these guys: http://engine-conversion.com/content/view/14/28/ MCK10 for a Rover V8 going onto a Series transmission. They do loads of kits for many vehicles and engines. Very good kit, they tailored it for my exact engine and gearbox and it's a lovely box to open and st...

I have a Series II/III radiator which has been re-cored, but might not use the expansion bottle if I go for waterless coolant on the refill as that stuff doesn't increase pressure over about 5psi so the space in the top of the rad should suffice for expansion. The guys who provided the conversion ki...

Chris, You're definitely the guru for me! Your explanation printed out, a large cup of tea and staring at the new engine and older manifold for a whilst helped the penny drop and I see the two coolant circuits now clear as day - brilliant. I need to take the water pump off again to safely drill out ...

Converting 4.2 EFi to SU Carb Manifold - Coolant Paths.

Hi Guys, I have a 1992 4.2 RV8 that I am retro fitting a twin SU manifold to - the EFi coolant flow is easy to follow with the external pipes running back to the heater matrix, and the bypass circuit through the front heating pipes. This engine has the very tall water pump housing (I think it's the ...

Absolutely not on a Series 1 box - you probably would get to 2nd gear before something wrenched itself to bits! The wagon came to me with a Series II 2.25L petrol engine & gearbox. which I've sat to one side to be rebuilt at a later date. The V8 is being fitted to a rebuilt SIII gearbox, modified (s...

Cheers guys - cam stays in and I'll see how she runs. Yes the engine came with Hotwire but the vehicle it's going into is a 1958 Series 1 Land Rover, so carbs seemed more fitting for the build - there's a guy in Australia who runs a 4.6 well on twin SUs and I'm starting with the needles and springs ...

Camshaft Thoughts for Rover V8 4.2 on Twin SUs.

Hi Guys, I have a Rover 4.2 V8 which I am changing from its original Hotwire system to twin SUs - I am wondering about the factory camshaft being suitable for running on carbs? I've searched the forum and have seen the info on 4.6 engines, but not quite what I'm doing. It might be that the factory c...

Thanks fellas - much appreciated.

I have the housing off and the hose lengths, so it'll be easiest to drop into Merlin Motorsport and see what they can make up (just 10 minutes away).

I was hoping to use standard parts but will use what they can provide.

Factory Oil Cooler Fittings to Aftermarket Cooler?

Hi I am working on fitting a Rover 4.2 V8 from a Range Rover Classic into a Series Land Rover - doing this with a conversion kit which provides an adapter ring to mount the Engine and Series Gearbox, some new engine mounts, Machined Spigot Bush, Release Bearing extender, and a block to shift the ang...
