TVR Chimaera gearbox remote bushes

Recently the clutch on my TVR Chimaera changed, and when I got it back it wasn't long before I couldn't get 1st 2nd and 3rd. It's got the T5 box. The mechanic took it back and I can now get all the gears -- he said he adjusted the remote at the end of the push rod where it fastens to the rose joint ...

I eventually took it to Kennet Clutch Centre in Beenham. I got it back yesterday, and 1st, 3rd and 5th soon started to feel iffy. Been out in it tonight and can't get any of them, and 2nd and 4th feel wrong. He said he had to take the remote off. I have no experience of the T5 box, so when I call hi...

Very worried about car sale

Hi, I have recently accepted an offer from a guy in Belgium for my MGB V8. Maybe I am being a little too paranoid, but I was immediately wary of him as he wanted to buy the car without even seeing it. He phoned back a few moments later to say he wasn't interested as he couldn't get it transported. H...

Cheers. I'll give them a buzz in the morning. I suspect the clutch fork.

Decent Garage in Newbury/Basingstoke for TVRetc

My new Chimaera has, perhaps inevitably, developed a problem with the clutch. I just can't be arsed.

Does anyone know of a good garage in the Newbury/Basingstoke area? As close to Kingsclere as possible.

Cheers,

Adam

Thanks. Lol, don't apologise -- I knew what I was letting myself in for. New battery now -- which was a sod to change -- so I'll see what this does in the next few days.

Chimaera starting trouble

Hi, Had my Chimaera just 3 days, and it already packed up on me! Wouldn't start in work's car park this evening and had to call the AA. Flat battery. Will be buying a new one, but it seems a bit odd: it had plenty of juice in the morning and previously, with no signs of getting tired. I hadn't left ...

Hi, cheers for the advice. I'll do the usual - check for air leaks etc. After that, I am afraid I know next to nothing about fuel injection, I wouldn't know how to adjust the idle mixture  Is alfa-N where the ECU over rides the signals from the air flow meter when there is a confused signal at...

It dried up a bit, so got a spin. Solid chassis, low mileage, dry interior that's like new apart from the odd bit, and lovely engine with MC1 cam installed by v8 Developments. Offered him a deposit to take it. It kangaroos a bit at low speeds though. Don't think it's owt serious. Maybe ECU remap, be...

Buying advice

Hi, I'm off to look at a Chimaera this afternoon. Saw it on Ebay, and spoke to the chap last night. Sounded a very reasonable guy, and has perfect feedback on Ebay with pictures of the MOT and receipts from V8 developments. Today or tomorrow are the only reasonable days I can really go to view, but ...

I think they are specifying composites because they leave the liners slightly proud of the deck to improve head gasket sealing. Perhaps. May well be talking a complete load of arse there - never had top hats fitted. As you've had top hats put in, this sounds like a pretty high-budget build, so I'd g...

I think my MGB is ok; I can't remember what jets I put in it, but I seem to recall going one needle size up on cruise to lean it out -- any leaner and it didn't run properly. It's just because I have a Lead right foot  I guess I'd better just go and have a look at a few. Don't mind if I have to...

Buying Advice: Chimaera

Hi, I'm seriously considering shelling out for a Chimaera; like the look of them, and all importantly, they are V8s!! Been looking at the prices of a few on fleabay, and although a bit of a stretch, I should be able to afford one of the cheaper ones on my budget ~ 7 to 8k. How expensive are they to ...

Drama over. Turned out to be the No 4 plug. Managed to hobble to Halfords and change it in the car park before it went dark lol.

What makes a spark plug just give up like that? Was fine this morning. They must only have done about 3K.
