Thank Perry, you make a very good point. To optimise the induction system without going full EFI a throttle body efi system might very well be the way to go.

Sidecar, Thanks for your detailed tuning explanation.

From your experience do you prefer the "standard" Edelbrock with the weighted secondary airflap or the AVS model with the changeable springs in the air flap...or it doesnt really matter?

Thanks Graeme

Thanks Perry, OK, just a thought. What about a modified setup that used twin webers instead of twin SU's for my modified 4.6. Maybe this set up could be on a single or dual plane 4 barrel manifold. Potentially this could fit under a stock MGB hood / bonnet. Anyone done this, or know someone who has ...

Costello Weber carb setup

Looking at some photos of an original carb set up on a Costello, it used a single DCOE mounted toward the rear of the engine and feeding the air / fuel mix forward. Was this viewed as a good set up or a bit too out there?

OK just to close this post out, after much pulling my hair out researching and trying to figure out what the issue was....changing inlet manifolds and everything, The guy that was tuning the engine found that he had been using the wrong mark for TDC on the balancer. It was out by almost 30 deg advan...

Yes Perry a road car that sees some spirited drives through the hills and 4 or 5 track days a year.

So pretty much the best option is an Edelbrock 500 then?? Are there any other more performance orientated carbs without stepping up to 650 CFM??

Cheers, Graeme.

Man that is cheap.

If I would fit quad webers under a stock MGB hood / bonnet then you might have some competitive bids :D

If it doesnt work out my uneducated guess is that you would always get your money back on something like that in the future.

Cheers, Graeme

Thanks Robrover, I will check out that link, I am very interested in the smallest QFT and BLP carbs Blown V8, originally I had a Holley 650 DP street HP but just couldn't get the mixtures right for part throttle running. I didn't have an A/F meter installed (which I am rectifying now) but I would ha...

The bends (if you can call them that) into the ports look......awkward.

Ths certainly may not help fuel atomization at lower air speeds and restrictive at higher air speeds. HTH Graeme

Street Demon 625CFM

Has anyone seen or had any experience with these carbies? Stright up 625 CFM seems a little large for a 4.6 Rover but with the secondary "ari valve control" it might to the trick. https://www.demoncarbs.com/1901.asp Looks like a reincarnated quadrajet! What are the thoughts of this on a mi...

OK everyone, I have finally had the carbys swapped over and run the 500 Edelbrock on the dyno as a back to back comparo with the Holley 650 and the results were surprising to say the least. I expecting a small difference but it was significant. As can be seen from the photo in the attached link the ...

Thanks, Do you drive the car with both manifolds on the road or just on the dyno? If on the road was there a real on-the-road performance difference between them below 4500rpm? Obviously there is a difference on the dyno but did these numbers have a big impact on the road - seat of pants kind of fee...

Thank you Darkspeed for the power curve. Very interesting - the torque curve is really nice and flat. I assume the torque curve in the lower rpm could be smoothed out a bit with carby tuning (just guessing :) ). Almost the same power as my 4.6 :? but great info thankyou very much. Graeme
