lt77 + sd1 bellhousing alternatives??

Hi all, i have recently been rebuilding my rv8 for my mgb conversion. It was not until very recently that i have discovered the rarity and high cost of the required sd1 bellhousings. I am aware of one or two alternatives out there but all seem even more expensive. i understand that this is an inhere...

I have both a discovery and an sd1 flywheel in my garage at present. Mgbv8 is right about the ring gear being the same dia but the disco one is about half an inch thicker on the clutch plate side. It weighs nearly twice as much too! I was considering having the disco flywheel machined down because t...

Mark,
I have done all my chopping and my timing cover is now with my ally welding buddy.
It will be interesting to see how it looks! I will post a pic also.
Just got to worry about the serp(ish)pulley arrangement now.

Mark, I have done most of the chopping now and im about to take the cover to my friend who is a dab hand at welding ally. Just got one or two questions if you don't mind: You say you have the new inlet tapped at 1/2" thread for oil filter return pipe. The outlet is m20 thread I think is there a...

My timing cover is the interim type that has a crank driven oil pump and the filter housing is part of the main casting. The part where the filter spins on looks to be a bit lower than those shown in any of the links and space is very tight around the steering rack on a RHD mgb. I'm nowhere near tri...

Mark,
Don't worry about the pics if it's a bit tight in there. As long as i know its possible to go in there I don't mind doing the required mods.
I was more concerned whether it was actually going to fit or not.

Cheers

Mark, Did you use this cover for the crank driven oil pump or some other reason? I'm only asking as I'm at the stage where I need to make a decision which way to go with the front cover. All the bits I have are in really good nick and it would seem a shame not to use them but i don't want to make to...

It sounds like you have a good setup there.
The only problem would be what else I needed to change too. I think the take-off plate would foul the steering rack but not sure about that.
To be honest I might just be better getting to the dropping it in stage and see how it fits/doesn't.

Hi mark,
Did you get around to doing this mod as I'm thinking the same thing or did you go for an earlier cover in the end.
I have the interim cover also doing the mgb swap but it seems a shame to ditch all the bits I have as they are in really good nick!

Cheers

RV8/MGB interim timing cover query.

Hi all, I have a 3.9EFI engine from a 94 disco that I am currently doing a bit of work on which will eventually end up in my mgb roadster. I know this has been discussed at length but I have not found anyone who has used the interim timing cover on this installation. Is that because it is impossible...
