oil leak from rocker breathers

Hi Chaps
I have experienced oil dripping from the seals of the rocker cover breathers, when on track. I think it is something to do with the rocker covers angle.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue and if so how did they rectify it ?

Spoke to Charles at real Steel when I delivered the heads today and he said that it was only 3 pairs of heads that have had this problem. he said that the casting has been slightly modified on the later heads to prevent further problems. Full credit to Real Steel though as they said that they will ...

storm in a tea cup

Thanks for the replies !! I think I have sussed it out, I borrowed another Infra red thermometer from a local garage and compared readings from my car to another. It seems the temp sender is knackered, the gauge is reading about 15 to 20 degrees high. Also it had an airlock which was rectified by ja...

I don't think it can be running anti clockwise because with the infra red thermoter I could tell the rad was hotter at the top (inlet) than the bottom (outlet). The bottom hose at the rad was at least 20 degrees cooler that the top hose, but the botto hose as it nears the pump was as hot as the top ...

Re: update

I read on another thread that by removing the heater can cause a problem with water flow into the rad. I did a quick test, I put a clamp on the loop that has replaced the heater and ran the car. It had the same problem the cooled water from the rad is not getting back to the pump via the bottom hos...

Sometimes the heater loop will allow hot coolant to return to the engine block via the pump inlet without going through the rad. Can you explain more fully the layout of the heater loop and if possible provide a photo of the hose /header tank layout. Thanks for the reply, my index finger is pointin...

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj218/tominator229/bottomhose_zps908c0ed7.jpg bottom hose near rad it is at least 20+ degrees cooler than at other end near pump. if the water is flowing from the bottom of the rad to the pump, surely this hose should have an equal temp ?? the hose goes up, then o...

had carb - cooling was great - now got EFI engine too hot ??

Hi Please can I have some help I have a 4.6 westfield that was running on a webber carb, it had no issues whatsoever with cooling. It used to run at a tad over 90 and come down when driving with the ram air flow. I sent the car away to be upgraded to EFI, now the car ticks over at just over 100 and ...

merlin

according to RS, JE has only purchased one pair of heads, i have been told JE builds fantastic engines and obviously knows his stuff but competition/personal vendettas etc must influence his comments, which is only natural, he told me he had piles of merlin heads that he cannot give away, which has ...

Mark, I never bothered with the std intake ports and simply cut the silly corner away. If you need the corner in the first place them someone screwed up big time with the port design. I have also removed the fin inside the port. Surely that little corner thingy is there for a reason ? ( i am a comp...

Very interested - am waiting to get to the top of the list for merlins, i keep telling myself that they are not a cost effective tuning option for me, but can help wanting them. Did you run standard head before the F85s? If so did you notice a difference with that modification alone? Are they stand...

little tub: 330hp with STD fuel injectors.. No way.. If it is TVR horsepower then maybe.. I made my friend 4.6engine with those merlin heads, good thinks what i saw those heads are combustion champer shape and exhaust port is rised slightly, but my home modded rover head exhaust port outflow merlin...

Yes I know the RPI video and to be honest I was expected similar increases in power. Take std 4,6 bottom end, fit Merlins and score 300 hp. Sure thing, piece of cake. On thing to consider, factory 4,6 block may not even have the claimed 9,35:1. I know my half engine didn´t when I took it apart. Pis...
