I'm not going to use ATF as thats about as good as filling it up with water in my opinion. The box was cheap on Ebay because it crunched in 4th and 5th, turned out part of the input shaft to mainshaft bearing was lying in the bottom of the casing. £10 worth of bearing and gasket later it feels excel...

LT77 output flange + oil query
Does anyone know of a torque figure for a 2wd lt77 output flange nut? and should there be a seal between the splines and the nut/washer? The nut was quite loose when I took it off and there was no seal in the back of it. I was thinking of doing it up proper tight with a little sealant on the washer....

I get something around 20-25mpg on my daily commute (120 mile round trip) in my 3.5 landy, with twin 2" SU's, running at about 2200 rpm @70. Running a little rich at the moment though, keeps on backfiring every 5 - 10 miles depending on hills and wind :? Drops to around 15mpg around the local lanes....

I use the late range rover 4-2 manifolds with long 2-1 pipes joining into a y-piece tight up against my gearbox. The system runs through 2 silencers from a 2.5tdi land rover 110, which are straight through with 2 1/4" bore, then through a single straight pipe out the back pto hole. This set up is re...

Sounds like what happened when I fitted a v8 to my series 3. Have you taken the little cover off the bellhousing on the front of the gearlever to see what the clutch is doing? Does the clutch pedal get solid by the time it reaches the floor? I found that my release arm was not being pushed far enoug...

I already have an sd1 cover to go on this engine, and I've modified a P6 cover in the past to take the rubber lip seal, very easy mod, only required grinding off the front lip on the timing cover, but the groove in the rear of the block is not deep enough for me to just 'grind' a bit away. £10 per c...

I live near Gaydon, and I work in High Wycombe where I know a machine shop, they quoted £40 to reface a flywheel, £60 to lighten it and £45 to skim each head. I'm in no hurry to get the work done, I just want to know roughly much it should cost and what I need to put aside for getting the work done....

reboring - how much?
I have decided to up the compression on my current rover v8 rebuild from 8.5:1 to something like 9.75:1. Some of the bores have a small rigde at the top so so I've decided to get it rebored to plus 20 thou. When I take my block to my local machine shop to rebore it, do I supply the pistons for them ...
