My first thing to check is where is the bleed nipple at the highsest point? if not then you will always have great difficulty getting air out and pressure up. further you really want the whole system to form a gradual rise to the toward the bleed nipple no local highs and lows, difficult to do but ...

Hi all This car seems to be fighting us at the moment! Got the engine going and now can't bleed the clutch!! We've got an MGB V8 clutch cylinder and a SD1 slave cylinder, both of which are new (including the pipework). We're having real problems getting pressure on the system ... has anyone got any ...

Thanks for all the info

I think the best solution for me will be to blank off the vacuum!

What sort of ignition is it - a full electronic system as an upgrade to the later rover module or just a set of those electronic points? We've bought an Accuspark electronic points ignition with an inline ballast and a coil to match ... and Eureka! It's alive!! We had tried the PowerSpark non-balla...

Thanks for your reply!

We're going to try an electronic system with an in-line ballast and coil to match to see whether this makes any difference!

We'll let you know

Thanks!

Thanks for your input ... you are right that No. 1 is on the front passenger's side.

However, the manual is incorrect as later on it does say that No. 1 is on the driver's side nearest the radiator!!

Electronic ignition

I have just fitted a Powerspark electronic ignition to my 3.5 Rover V8. It has the powerspark coil to go with it, which is a non-ballast type. When cranking the engine over the voltage drops to 9 volts. When speaking to Powerspark they are saying this is border line for the ignition to work properly...

Rover V8 timing

I have just read on the V8 forum someone describing how to time up a Rover V8 and they have stated that to check the number 1 cylinder is at TDC to remove the driver's side rocker box cover and check that the valves on no. 6 are slightly open. According to my Haynes manual it states that No. 1 cylin...

Shims for rocker gear

I have a Rover 3.5 with reconditioned cylinder heads that have had a light skim ... I am running a Kent 214 fast road Cam and am using the original push rods and lifters. The cylinder heads are fitted with composite head gaskets. I read in the Real steel catalogue that if you are running a fast cam ...

Rover V8 Cylinder Head and Rocker Covers - a question

I am carrying out an MGB V8 conversion. The cylinder heads on the engine I have are marked up ERC0216 and are 14 bolt fixing. I have some Rover P6 Rocker Covers and I am unsure whether they are suitable for these cylinder heads as I cannot identify the age of the heads. I would be grateful for any h...
