Major build up weld work - project to increase flow -ai

Dear all As some of you know my 382 on ITBs is now on the road and ready to race. What I am planning is a rework of the manifold as the power band is a little lower then I would like. The manifold is quite a restriction - and although it's making great power I think I am loosing about 80hp as the pe...

Must admit - I have fallen in love with the "snort" and growl of my 383 on individual throttle bodies!! My old rover sounded so blunt compared to it:-)

Coops - what I mean by discredit is - you are better than that. You will be back. If I said your cappa will never roll again you know that would be untrue:-) All I am saying mate - as you well know - is its all in the game:-) you apologised, when you didn't really do anything wrong, and that showed ...

Coops mate - going to give you some tough love! Pretty much all of us at the moment have been on our arse!! Some financially - some physically - and some emotionally! I am not going to list anybody at all. A grass roots racer is not just somebody who shows and shines, or buys parts as you know. It's...

BTW - recent build I saw - 1.77 inch inlets on heavily skimmed buick 300 heads on zero decked rover block with 4.0 pistons - no clearance issues.

Mike!! You have too much patients and time;-) Guys - I pondered for ages about this and have now learned a new method that takes 20 seconds!! Stick a bore scope in the spark plug hole and watch the clearence! (80quid - but really useful) Most people may be able /can eye up a mm - use the angles of t...

Mike your bad vibes! If he had a Toyota he would have scrapped it by now, disgaurded like a soggy tissue! There can be no true beauty without decay!!!

Colloidal graphite paste - Graphogen. Torco is also good. But my mate Richard showed me a camshaft of an engine that was never collected by its owner (after rebuild) - been sitting there since 1997, still covered in Graphogen. Some use in on their bores, so e just for bearings.

Ohh I do t know - home ported heads - bulleted guides - buffers valves - balance - single plane manifold (used) - re-liner the block - if you have a cross bolted 4.6 use 4.0 Pistons for high CR - nice big cam - but not overboard - 280-300hp ish - plenty of advance - 2500 maybee???

As I am in the middle of a fairly big rover to GM conversion - I can vouch it is definitely more expensive then you expect! It's all the little and not so little changes needed. But it's the only way to go for big reliable power. But if your ambitions are only circa 300hp I would still say a rover p...

I think a cam swap would lead to a few issues. Overlap plays a part here as I think coops is approaching 11:1 CR.

My mate Richard re-lines all wider bore blocks and over 50% will have cracks or porosity. This is done on all blocks as a matter of course. It was more common on 4.0/4.6 as they run far hotter combustion temperatures to keep emissions satisfactory

Valve throat blending is possibly the best "free" single thing to do with the standard setup - but a 3 angle valve seat is also just as good but get is done right.

Headers for SBC in Defender - big bird primaries

Dear all I have seen this issue discussed in the pass by a fellow forum member who also put a 383 chevy into a defender - I am looking for an exhaust header that fits without too much hassle. The chassis rails are the main problem- have not tried any yet - but real steel will never t allow me to ret...
