Pro comp heads UK - good value??
Hi guys! Have purchased a set of brand new 220cc allumnium pro-comp bare cylinders heads from a "vendor" in the UK. These have valve guides - seats uncut and not a great deal else. With a little negotiation I got him down to 250 pounds. So I purchased a set of Ferrea 5000 series as valves (2.08 inle...

Yes, he is a top guy! We had a long chat after at took his card for V8 UK! Really nice people, as is everybody I have met at the pod! We are both learning as I am also a newbie and we will use each other as a benchmark I think. I reckon I got lucky at the start:-). My starts are the real problem!! W...

If the crank has been heat treated it my no longer be straight, this can be fixed, if the block was fine before then it is likely to be still fine. But as states if they are the wrong way round etc this can be the problem. If it is a different block or it has bee overheated etc it may be warped and ...

Sadly almost no cost effective options! 4.2 crank will fit but it's a rare beast - but you won't get 4.2 as that need the 3.7 inch bore. TVR 500 crank - as rare! Bob expensive - ground customs are available but are dear. As I said mate, re-liner a 4.6 is the c Best option. In reality - you have NO c...

The 4.0 is the most prone to this, then the 4.6 (if they were in a rlate model range rover running hotter due to emissions and LPG then more so. The 3.9 less so but any 3.7 inch bore can do it. The 4.0 used the thinner blocks as tested at the factory and colour coded that way (dab of paint in the bl...

As fa as I am aware the 3.9 block also suffers from a liner failure rate that is significant! Ok the 4.0 was the worst, but on crack testing prior to tip hat linering Wards see a great deal of failures! My 5.0 is essentially a 3.9 block but it dropped a liner! Keep your crank and rotating assembly, ...

I think Mike made some great comments! What is the current seat configuration on the TA heads? On my stage 4 rover heads the throats were blended etc but I re-cut the setas to a proper 3 angle configuration and then gave each of the valves a quick lap. I looked at the contact patch of the valve and ...
