Shortage of funds and could not get the engine to start, it was cheaper to buy a known running engine complete with carbs and sell the other engine and carbs etc separately.. I could not move forward with the build without getting the car running.

Some interesting stuff off topic, So my carb is the wrong way round and my intake sucks :) (see what I did there). Only had the car 3 weeks and lots could change, oddly enough it didn't need the low manifold as I had enough room to fit a 1 inch spacer... I do have another car that could at some poin...

Sounds like you guys seem to know the problem... is a 1/4 inch spacer sufficient to solve the problem ?
Thanks for the quick replies.. it is rather an annoying problem, can't believe the PO put up with it for 8 yrs !

Cheers,

Warm start up problems.. Weber 500

Hi, Just got a Stag with a Weber (eldebrock) 500 carb and JWR manifold on a RV8, starts great from cold, and if you stop for a minute or so while warm it fires up straight away. Leave it more than a minute and it cranks for 10 seconds before firing up, no one wants that ! Where should I look first ?...

To put an end to my original problem, I have purchased a bigger radiator, added an expansion tank, checked the thermostat and water pump... and I think my main problem was the gauge needed a voltage stabiliser as it is showing hotter than the engine actually is  So after spending a few hundred...

Thanks for the replies, It does have a heater and the hoses are fully heated, no way to turn it off though, its a very basic car at the moment ! I spotted one of those at JJC and thought that was the best solution, and yes that price is outrageous ... I will have to get a better rad and use the hose...

Won't stay cool..

Hi folks, I am slowly getting there with the Moss but I am having trouble with the cooling system. I am after advise and I have my own theory and will explain and show pics :) The rad is not a V8 one, no idea what its from but it seemed large enough so I built things around this one. The hose outlet...

Front cover / water pump swaps

Hi guys,

I think I have decided to go with the Range Rover v8 from my 97 P38 in the Moss, question is can I swap the front cover and p6 water pump etc from the p6 to the RR engine ?
Won't need all the fancy power steering etc and space is a premium ..

Thanks

Little white mark on the pulley lined up with the metal marker thingy, cylinder 1 spark plug out and the gap at its shortest, plop in the dizzy with the rotor arm pointing at the empty spark plug cylinder ... if that makes sense to anyone.

Righto, here's where I am at: Set tdc etc put in dizzy, I get lots of popping inside the cylinder head, not back through the carb, though just to check I have taken out the dizzy, turned it 180 and I get no pops or bangs at all so assume I have set the dizzu correctly. I can't get past this stage ri...

Ok thats makes sense as I got burnt using my set up
I am sure there is a set up / kit I can buy that not only gets rid of the points/condensor set up and removes the need for a Ballast resistor ?
Ie, dizzy, coil etc and fitting instructions :)
