well, in the mean time i sourced a replacement visco fan. I tested it by putting the nut in a vice and rotating the cold clutch , it was supposed to get progressively easier to turn (freewheeling modus) It actually did to my surprise. Then i took a paintstripper and held it to the back of the nut (s...

i would probably start by checking/cleaning/lubricating the mechanical advance mechanism inside the dizzy and also check if the vacume advance actuator is still working correctly. then i would also check if the crank pully is still showing correct timing marks (set nr 1 cil at TDC by feeling for com...

Visco fan RV8
when running the car at 70mph for a while , then ending up in a traffic jam, the engine temp is creeping to the red zone. I managed to get some cooling by turning the heater on full power with the blower on. I suspect a faulty viscofan. I have a quick question: will a visco fan of a P38 RR fit on th...

are you using an adjustable cam-gear? If yes try advancing the timing of the cam in relation to the crank, this will restore some of the low rev torque that was lost due to installing a sports cam. also: what is the condition of the battery? do a load test (with a shunt and amp meter) on the fully l...

i managed to find the half cresent adjuster. It's not visible from the top and really difficult to see and reach from below since it is obscured by other V-belts. i had removed the dizzy to gain good access to the other bolts. Tensioning was a doddle. Since the alternator is driven from the PS-pump ...

i did the grooves on my 8V Volvo turbo that i used to own. i also used an MLS gasket for tight squish. I ran that grooved head for 30kkm. When i pulled the head: super clean pistontops, valves and white greyish exhaust ports, sparkplugs (1 spec colder) always super clean. I know the car never ran le...

PS-pump drive
On my RV8 3.9L i sometimes have eratic servo steering assistance. At the same time the V-belt screams / slips. (ATF cold) I checked the belt tension (crank <> servopump belt) and it is way to low. I can see the belt jumping around on the pulley's. But i don't seem to have adjustability on that belt....

i'm kind of confused right now. When i go flat out WOT in 3rd the engine seems to 'rumble' from 3500rpm on up. petrol(RON98) or LPG, it didn't make a difference, it just did not feel right. The timing was set on the E (after | | | | | 0 | | | | |b E fore) So i was wondering what one increment on the...

there is an easy check that you need to do first before you start messing with the floats: check if the tanks are installed level , most tanks have a cross on the side/end indicating how the tank should be positioned. If a tank is positioned in a non-level position the float will rise to soon leadin...

to get back on topic here is my Vialle-LPi experience: i used to own a 1997 Volvo 940 low pressure turbo with a Vialle LPi kit.(stock 135HP) It was a piggyback system that used white Siemens injectors that were sized for 50HP each. This meant i was able to chip the stock LH2.4 petrol system and bump...
