The 3.9 cross-bolted is said to be a good one? I run an old 3.5 that has the gear oil pump on a stalk, which is part of the timing cover. These are getting rare and worn ones have trouble priming, so it might be worth avoiding this engine. I made mine dry sump to get around this and other problems. ...

He's not wrong, but....... I don't know how they do it? I wonder if bits of cam shaft get thrown up the bores? Either way up, the compression pressure builds as the piston approaches TDC, so scoring at the bottom isn't as bad as at the top. Will the pistons be any good? Can the bores be any good? If...

I've was thinking about what I wrote this morning, before I went to work and my mind got diverted! Personally I'd go MS, because I have none of it, just points and SU's. But if I had functional injection I'd go MJ only? But then again, I was reading about a bloke who had trouble with his rangy. He p...

MS or Mj is the way forward, but in the mean time if you want to wade with the standard dizzy, connect a £5 compressor to the body. It's steam condensing in the cap rather than leads that stop them (unless your leads are really bad). And I'm firm in my opinion that if I go electronic control on the ...

It's easy on a land rover, but maybe not so on a car? For a start, a typical racing 4x4 gets it's air over the cab. Or like mine, have no windscreen... Assuming you can get air to it, then the rest has been covered above with 1/3 inlet ratio and good fans. I'll add that mines been on there since the...

Probably as well, with speaking ill of the dead and all that :) But I have seen the blokes model beam engine, which has a cylinder made from a landy gearbox bush. (His son lives up the road from me). He got it so spot on it'll run on lung pressure! I've never figured what the 'conversion' to rover i...

Yes, twinies is the way forward. And I would, but I really spanked the bank account this month on repairing the 1991 BT 190 transit tow motor. (landy is a trailer queen) It's how the cost of these hobbies gets out of control  Probably a good thing to add to the winter-refit program. I'll put th...

If the fedral mogal doesn't suck well it could be an issue, as the pump is near the top? Anything below the top of the chassis needs to be armoured or very robust, as the mud is normally full of hidden woodwork. And the crank driven winch means it is going through it :D http://i146.photobucket.com/a...

Yes, well worth a call at 5 litre/min (approx.) That's the right money and looks to be industrial rated. And more sensible 1/4 fittings to boot!
Thanks for the help.
At least I'm down to 2 front runners :)

I'm a bit further on. We think the holley is too much for the job. We think the solid state facet is too little, even with 2. I liked the durite, but I think I will go facet red or blue top. But the blue is points switch, and I have SU points pump on the old 1958 landy. They aren't inspiring, even i...

Rover 3.5 SU Fuel Pump Choice?

I've run a durite solenoid pump for years but it seems to have gone weak. On steep banks we were loosing one carb! But it has been on for over ten years, so a good life really. I was thinking of getting the same durite unit, but I thought about the more common red-top Facet (or one of the others in ...

Dry sump worked for me when I was worried about sucking air due to the oils position in the sump. I'm convinced it now starts better cold, better when hot, maintains a constant oil pressure through the rev range and cures baldness. Okay, maybe not the last one, but I'm glad I spent cash and hours of...

Makes sense. Do they run an intercooler between the two, to reduce the heat load on the supercharger?

I'll drop this in here as I finally got the thing all in one place. It's just a copy on the clutches original stub shaft using the Rotrex nose as a centering point. This let me mount the clutch on the end of the Rotrex, without the electro-clutches small shaft having to take side loads. http://i146....
