Great thanks.

Ramon - you're a star, that was the article. I couldn't find it for looking on your site.

Cheers.

Refurb / Rebuild flapper injectors.

I have pretty much nailed my lumpy starting/running down to the injectors. Is it possible to get these refurbished or does anyone sell refurbished ones?

IIRC I saw an article about rebuilding them a while ago but don't seem to be able to find it now. I could give it a go myself!!

Help appreciated.

Thanks 5000SE. I believe it is one of those, but unable to confirm. It has the 2 adjusters as you suggest (see my other thread trying to identify it). I have tried emailing Mark Adams, but without success. Really just need some figures that are safe to run so I don't cook the thing. Especially the l...

Setting CO levels - what should they be?

I have seen somewhere (but obviously hidden in a safe place!) the CO readings that should be seen throughout the rev range on a RV8 I have a 3.9 with adjustable (flapper) ECU which has just gone through MOT at 0.8% Co at idle, which kind of alarmed me because I thought it should be around 2% and hen...

It was an emissions thing. You can remove (probably works better as a result!). You can buy bolts to block the holes off but they are quite tricky to find. If you look at past threads, there is someone on here who can supply them. Other alternative, as I did, is to remove the pipes and then weld up ...

Update - as not a lot was happening when I made adjustments (and the ECU was secondhand - albeit supposedly fully working), I thought I would have a little look inside. Volume knob - not very reliable multimeter readings and very corroded looking contacts, one of which snapped with very little persu...

No, I don't have the counter or LED's. A friend has one with just the counter. I have done a bit more investigating and the screw adjuster will turn over 40 times (I haven't discovered its full range yet!), so wondering if it may be faulty as this seems a lot for a variable pot in this application. ...

Thanks Paul, I 'think' I am with you :? Thinks - the screw on the ECU replicates the hex screw (idle CO) on the AFM and the 'volume knob' replicates adjusting the spring tension in the AFM? So, next question is why have/ is there any benefit in having have 2 idle CO adjusters and in what order to se...

Not sure I have made myself clear.

I have 2 adjusters on the ECU case. One is mixture (I have described as the volume knob). The second is a recessed screw in a blue tube type fixing on the case. This is the one I am not sure about.

Agree 100% with Ramon. Forum is great for a first stab at the common symptoms and faults. Then, I followed the diagnostics in a structured fashion and got KNOWN working replacement items for most parts apart from the ECU, which took some time (the chap I thought had one, didn't) and I wasn't prepare...

Thanks demo2. What I have referred to as the volume knob seems to adjust the mixture because if I crank it round, the mixture richens and goes a bit smokey. Are you saying that the recessed screw does the same thing? Why have 2 to do the same job? From my understanding of flapper, the mixture screw ...

Just for completeness... after god knows how many hours/days diagnosing this one, it was the ECU. At least hoping it was, I haven't had a chance to fully test it, but runs a lot better now!

New ECU now has loads of dials on it which I am trying to work out (see other thread)

Thanks for all the help.

Modified Flapper ECU with knobs - adjustment?

Just acquired a replacement flapper ECU from a fellow landy owner which seems to have solved my sooty and erratic running problems (see earlier thread). It has been modified and has a volume style knob on one side (where 12'oclock is the mid point between about 7 and 5 o'clock) and on the other side...

Tom, Just wondering if you have this issue cracked yet. I am having something similar with my efi flapper. Revs all over the place, clouds of smoke from the exhaust, stench of petrol, runs with less smoke when retarded by some stupid amount. I have tested the efi components twice, apart from the ECU...
